Novak will become career grand slam winner, just not this year

Wow, that one net violation in the fifth set changed everything. Great match though.

Yup, IIRC it would've been 40-15 as opposed to 30-30. Nole would've probably held serve and on his way to the win tbh. The net violation had no impact on the play.

Even though he lost, Djokovic is just a beast both physically and psychologically. I'd put my money on him winning the next 3 slams.

I put my money on Nadal winning next year's Australian Open.
Speaking of that, my favorite match of all-time WAS the 2012 AO final, but now my favorite match of all-time is the 2013 RG semi-final. Most dramatic match I've ever seen. What a way for Nadal to celebrate his 20th win over Djokovic.

I don't think so. He might destroy Tsonga but Ferrer is playing great.

Ferrer is a good player but if Novak couldn't break down Rafa, how can Ferrer? He has nothing to hurt Rafa with.

What a weak showing by Tsonga during that tiebreak.

Nadal literally broke Djokovic's heart today. Djokovic was trying to keep his promise to his deceased coach/surrogate grandmother, but Nadal would have none of it. It was the biggest body-blow I've ever seen one man give another man on a tennis court. Don't expect much from Djokovic at Wimbledon. This one cuts deep.

just stop. Broke his heart? Biggest body blow? You've never been one to give Federer or Djokovic props but come on.

va-mos clearly hasn't watched enough tennis. As a Goran Ivanisevic fan I know what body blows and broken hearts mean.

Re: French Open 2013
I'm happy for Rafa that he won. It was a gutsy 5-setter, especially considering the last time they met (on clay), Novak won. Novak's been in Rafa's head, so it was great to see Rafa reassert himself in the rivalry in general, and maintain his dominance on his best surface. It's an incredible streak. Hopefully it gives him confidence to challenge ND on other surfaces as well.
Did ND really complain about the court being too dry? I can't recall the last time someone called the ref to make that complaint and request the watering of it. Sounds like a bit of the old Novak resurfacing when things weren't going his way. This time it wasn't histrionics with his conditioning, but with the conditions of the court.
Good luck to both competitors in the final. And to Serena, too. I hope she kicks ass.

Re: French Open 2013
Considering Nadal was up a break in the 5th set of AO 2012 vs Djokovic, I think Nadal is ready to take back that crown in 2014. And Nadal has a better record at the US Open than at the AO, while Djokovic was beaten by Murray at last year's US Open. So I'm pretty confident Nadal can win those hardcourt slams again. When Nadal won Indian Wells this year, I noted that his backhand was creating more winners than it ever has before (more so than 2010 US Open even). So I think during his time off he's become fully committed to using both wings to attack, rather than just the forehand.
Yesterday in the semi, Nadal had 61 winners, while Djokovic had 54. Nadal hit 22 winners in the 5th set.

It was hilarious. And they watered it, and Djokovic still complained and asked them to water it again.

Serena is a beast. Great effort from Sharapova though.

Re: French Open 2013
Sharapova looked dangerous vs Serena for the first time in a while, but as usual Sharapova's serve was unstable at crucial times. Serena looks much closer to the pack on clay, as evidenced by her drought at Roland Garros, and by the very close call vs Kuznetsova. This has been a competitive French Open.
