We must do whatever it takes to get Iguodala
MCW/Stuckey
Knight/ knight
AI/Singler
Monroe/Maxielle
Drummond/backup FA
Is a VERY strong defensive team. That's all I care about any more. Defense. Sick and tired of having teams come in and make us look like swiss cheese.
A.I. is the Key piece to all of this.

AI is the to all of this.
Stuck & Max will NOT be Pistons starting next season. I also think that one of JJ or Singler will be gone too. I unfortunately believe we are stuck with CV until the trade deadline. I'd REALLY like to get AI & Tony Allen.
Knight/McCallum
Allen/Singler
AI/Middleton
Moose/CV
Dre/Moose
I'm still not convinced that BK is right for this team but I have to assume he is the primary reason why Cheeks was hired. You may not like him as a coach but he was an All-Star and Knight is totally in the mold of Cheeks. If Cheeks can develop him then his coaching stint with us would be an amazing success!!

Re: We must do whatever it takes to get Iguodala
I'm convinced landing mo cheeks has everything to do with developing brandon knight and MCW. The second reaso.n we landed mo cheeks was to get Andre iguadala. The max will be offered to andre and I think he will take it. The third reason we landed mo is bc of his recent championship playoff experience with OKC. There was no way an established coach was comin to a team still in the developmental phase. All in all mo cheeks made the most sense.

Re: We must do whatever it takes to get Iguodala
I was leaning towards not going for Iggy because of age and cost, but i think ive turned the corner.
He would be such a huge upgrade on the perimeter and he would be a solid leader.
Hopefully he doesn't come at too high of a cost.

I like that rationale. I'd love to see Cheeks pan out!!

Much rather
Knight
Shabazz
Iguodala
Monroe
Drummond
Iggy can play point if knight struggles.

I'm cool with Bazz but I still want Allen.
Could we afford this lineup??
Jack/Knight (only until BK proves he can play the point)
Allen/Bazz
Iggy/Singler or Middleton
Moose/JJ or CV
Dre/Moose

That team is awful. Iguodala is as good at 3's as Stuckey and MCW can't shoot either, to make things worse Knight is not a reliable shooter at all.
Adding Tony Allen as someone else suggested only make things 10x worse since Allen is a horrible shooter.

Obviously it depends on what price you get all those players at, but I think that we can at least afford Allen and Iggy. We would probably have enough to get Jack as well, but I'm not entirely sure. I'd definitely like that lineup though. My only problem with it would be no backup C. We desperately need one, whether he comes from free agency, or the draft. If we could acquire another mid-first pick and draft Dieng as well then we'd be set, imo. Otherwise I think we need to acquire Dalembert.

I want to land Iggy (I've also turned the corner on him) but lawd, if we offer him a max multi-year deal we're nuts. He's a strong contributor -- but he's in the twilight of his career, and we can't afford to bank our future on him.

Allen is a career 47% FG. He was 44.5% last year with the Griz. Just because he doesn't hog the ball doesn't mean we need him to be our shooting leader. Bazz would more than make up for that deficiency.

I have some cute numbers for you. He is a career 26% 3 point shooter. He shot 12.5% this season. Yeah he is an amazing shooter. Would be amazing to pair him up with Iguodala who is a career 33% 3 point shooter and usually shoot ~30-31% except by one season where he shot almost 40%.
They're such a fantastic fit next to Drummond and Monroe, not as if we need to space the floor or anything

Vege has it right. He keeps agreeing with me which is weird. That line-up would be the worst back-court in the NBA. Our defense would look worse and we'd lead the league in TO and last in A/TO Ratio

Bazz can hit the 3... So can BK, Singler, & JJ. Iggy isn't a great 3 pt shooter but he can still hit them. Big deal, Allen can't hit a 3. You have 4 guys that can distribute the rock. BK, Iggy, Moose, & Singler. That's 4 guys at 4 different positions. Double team one and Dre or Moose is going to make you pay. Double team down low and they can pass the ball out for a 3 pointer to anyone other than Allen, Dre, or Moose.
EDIT- I agree that MCW over Bazz would make any back court that included Allen atrocious.

It also leaved two shooters on the floor, and three if Iggy is on a hot streak.

I'd like that line-up alot more with Calderon in it than Knight. We lose in defense we gain in passing ability, ball control, and three point range. I think if we go Iggy we gotta keep Calderon.

Re: We must do whatever it takes to get Iguodala
If we were to sign Iggy we'd definitely need a strong 3 point shooter to complement him on the wings.
Other than that I think he's a terrific fit. I'm not sure what kind of competition we will have for him or whether having Cheeks actually makes him more receptive or not, but I'd be surprised if its an option we don't at least look into.
Cost will be a big part of it, too. I don't know how much I'd be willing to pay for him if I were Gores, though. I certainly wouldn't give him close to a max deal.
