The Jazz should take a salary back from Dallas, Atlanta or the Nets in return for worthwhile picks. Taking Perkins and Lamb in a sign-and-trade for Millsap is a bad move, unless the Jazz really like Lamb.

If you can find a way to trade a #2013 pick for a S&T deal with Millsap, I`m all ears.

They agree to draft a person the Jazz select. Then trade his him to the Jazz for cap space.

Assuming all parties are comfortable that the other sides wont back out, I don't see a problem.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You are right to imply that it can't be done. The earliest that a player who will be a free agent on July 1 can be sign-and-traded is July 10 after free agency has begun, the July moratorium is over, and the 2013 draft (June 27) is long in the rear-view mirror. (See http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm questions #98 and #102)

The only players the Jazz CAN trade before July 10 is Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks, and Evans. Marvin W. (player option) and Kevin Murphy (team option) could be traded if their options were picked up first.

So in this case you would have to have the Rockets pick a player for you, and then 2 weeks later trade his rights to you as part of a sign-and-trade deal with Millsap. What if someone swooped in with a better deal in the meantime? Since trade agreements aren't allowed that early I doubt you could draft some kind of bindable deal to a trade in a couple weeks once those kinds of trades would be allowed.

It's called a handshake deal. You don't make them with folks you don't trust. Yeah, you take a risk, but, if you know who you are dealing with it can work.

The jazz are giving nothing, Milsapp is a free agent.

I dont like it for Houston, i think Ibaka is not the player you want at 4 with D12 at center. The offense will be terrible.

Ibaka averaged 13 points on 61% ts this year, how would that make a horrible offense?
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

i like it for houston cause i believe in their staff/coaches to help ibaka and d12 with improving/developing their low post games plus ibaka's age.

Well done, very solid all-around, but I think the Thunder would insist on holding on to Jeremy Lamb and instead trade the Toronto pick or their own to the Jazz.

It's an interesting trade that's for sure. Nice work by the OP. However, I don't like it for Houston. We need to clear salary for Howard. So Delfino is going to be cut first thing. Secondly T-Rob needs to be moved as well just to get a MaX offer for Dwight. Other than that I like Ibaka but I think we need something back. Seems like a lot for Ibaka.
