Dealing with Orland is tough for us since Williams doesn't really fill a need for them. A big part of it would be dependent on McCollum being available at 9. I don't think taking Nelson off their hands holds much value to them unless we offer them an ungarunteed contract combined with Williams. I think you'd be looking at taking back Al Harrington instead. Shved would also probably be pretty attractive to them to pair with McCollum.

Orlando only has 1 PG on roster. Magic are not going to involve Nelson in any trade to move down unless they cover their PG position before they select the 9th pick. From the Twolves roster it would take Sved and Ridnour to be in the deal (which would leave us with only Rubio and JJ as our PGs).....and of course Williams to make the Magic move on it.

If you look at Det or PHX rosters you will find that they have the same issues in dealing with Orlando. Orlando does not have bad contracts to give back to balance out the deal when it comes down to money.

A very interesting in depth take on the shooting guards;

Shved could certainly be someone Orlando is interested in. Interesting that Flip has been hyping him up as a PG. Orlando needs a PG, not a SG. Hmmm....

Right, but if he wasn't worth DWill and 9 before, he isn't magically worth that now. :P

Nobody ever said that.

Flip said Williams is too much to move up 5 spots. He never said Williams is too much for Oladipo. I think he would do 9/Williams for 2. The only question is, would Orlando...

I don't think Orland perceives Davis's contract as a bad one. Harrington's contract is non-guaranteed so if the Magic gave us that asset in return for Williams + Sved...or Williams + Sved + Ridnour....well....we would gladly take that asset and run. IMO.

If the Magic had a bad contract/asset that was in the range of 3mil to 5 mil to make the deal legal than we could do this deal.

We can't just do Williams (5.0Mil) + 9th pick overall for Magic 2nd pick overall...not legal.

Orlando does not have a bad asset to unload in the range we need it to be in so this becomes more complicated.

That's why I proposed adding Ridnour and Nelson.

You are correct sir. I think you are on to something with the Ridnour-Nelson trade move. Orlando may be looking at a possible Burke or MCW scenario at #9 with an expiring Ridnour showing the new kid the ropes in 13-14 for Orlando. Orlando would also get Williams and MInn 26th pick.

I find this news very interesting: Suns looking to add another 1st Round pick.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... Round-Pick

“We’ve talked to a few teams about getting in the draft at different ranges,” Ryan McDonough said. “We have good assets to do that. We have to evaluate all of these guys, figure out where they’re going to go. And then if we can get in at a particular range where a guy is undervalued, we’ll try to get in and get him there.”

Could it be that the Suns will not be in competition with the Wolves for Orlando's 2nd pick?..instead looking for additional assets for a deleted roster instead of moving up to garner the 2nd pick overall?

If true....

This would leave SAC & NO as teams who pick ahead of us as our main foes. I do not think Detroit is interested in moving up for they have their sights on a guy who can either distribute the ball playing next to Brandon Knight or Shabazz. Wash & Char have little incentive to move up in this draft..IMO.

I think they know Gortat won't re-sign with them, and is looking for, as someone on the trade board said, "the inevitable pick in the teens."

Of course, if they want in now, I'd gladly swap the #26 and cash to get back MIN's future pick! ; )

Nice article, but I'm leaning more towards not choosing a SG with the #9 pick

McLemore is out of reach, but I think that's a good thing as he doesn't have the drive to be good offensively, while I don't think he'll be that good defensively at the next level after seeing his lane agility time.

I'm still a big fan of Oladipo and I would love to trade up for him, but I think 9+Williams is a bit too much to go up in this draft, be it for #3 or #4. Seraphin or Biyombo back as well and I'm more eager, but I highly doubt the teams overrating their picks at this time will do that.

Something is off for me with KCP, not only isn't his 3 point percentage all that his two years in college, but bad FT% too to be the lights out shooter people make him out to be. He doesn't really excel in other areas either. He makes an effort on D, but he seems to be a bit boneheaded and I think that might get him into trouble on both sides of the court.

Most of all though, I'm starting to get really high on Ricky Ledo. Good size,, very quick feet and actually has a good handle which seems to be important if you want to be a good SG nowadays. His lane agility test is comparable to Oladipo's, and from the interviews he seems like a good kid. I can easily see him start off as 6th man type of guy at first and then develop into a great starter.

I think it is looking more and more likely Len is sliding down to 9 as well. Pistons already have bigs, Kings are sticking with Cousins, Pelicans seems to be high on Burke and Bennett, Phoenix have other needs and are set on Oladipo, while Washington want Porter/Bennett and Magic have Vucevic. I can only see Bobcats going for Len as they need backcourt help, but Len is a slight risk for them with his foot injury.

I think if we get Len at 9 and Ledo at 26 we can trade Williams and Ridnour/Barea for a starting quality SG and have Ledo come in as a scorer off the bench. If we do trade up for Oladipo however, then I still want Ledo and we can try to trade for a good 3rd big for Williams and Rid/Barea instead.

The glaring weakness on this team is having 5 point guards, and no SG's. Not the backup center position. I'm not sure how 'potentially' getting a wee bit more production over Steamer/CJ is really a game changer for the team. Especially when we get destroyed at SG for 48 minutes, pretty much every game. The idea that some shot blocking for 15 minutes against the other teams backups will turn the tide is just weird. ;)

I'd much rather draft two SG's, and sign a vet SG, then pray that one works out, screw acquiring more bigs. :)

I kinda agree, but the thing is that Pekovic is often injured because he plays too much and we could use another good big-man so Pek doesn't get all the pressure. Len has fantastic upside and is a no-brainer if he falls down to 9. I would still trade him with a small incentive for Oladipo however. Either Rid or Barea has to be traded, but Lee is a SG in my mind, if he even plays on his low salary. Shved can still be a SG, but he is more of a combo in my eyes.

Mcelmore or Oladipo are basically guaranteed to be there at 4. Id trade up for either one.

Only way either of them arnt is if someone trades up for the wizards pick.

I'm very curious about Flip's actual thinking. I hear a new rumor almost every day. The priority is Mayo, followed by the priority is trading up for Oladipo... Very intriguing

Not really. Washington wants to win now so that Wall will want to stick around. Adding more young players won't help them get there. Ilyasova is more established and better at his role (pick and pop offensive player, pretty good rebounding defensive player).

Even if this rumor is bogus, everything that Washington has done to this point has been in hopes of building a team that can make the playoffs, adding Nene, Ariza, Okafor, and when Wall came back they showed that they are close to getting there. Dealing for a vet who fits into your system to get over the top makes more sense than adding two more guys that need to be developed.
