Monroe for Kanter?
What do you guys think of this trade?
Greg Monroe, and Brandon Knight to Utah
Enes Kanter and the 14 pick in this years draft to Detroit
I think Monroe and Favors, and Drummond and Kanter are better fits with each other then what both teams have right now, what do you think? Is this fair? Can Kanter excel as a PF next to drummond? Will Monroe fit as a C next to Favors?

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
it's a pretty fair deal, but i wouldn't do it.
while monroe is a good player, his stats look good partly because he plays big minutes on a bad team. give kanter the same minutes and he'll post the same numbers, if not better, on a better team than monroe.
as for knight - he doesn't seem to be the answer at PG. i'm guessing this is part of the reason you are willing to part ways with him. at this point, i hope he'll do well, but i'm happy to see the jazz were able to foresee his development and got the better prospect in that draft. if he's not the answer at PG for the pistons, he's not the answer at PG for the jazz.
btw, are you sure you meant monroe+knight for kanter+14? because you're talking on favors later in your post. either way (kanter or favors), the answer is still no.

He's asking if we think favors fits with monnroe on OUR team...
Not as bad as most trade offers here... But I believe in kanter. I wanna see where our core can go.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
I basically agree. It's a very fair deal, but one I'd pass on. I'm confident in Favors' and Kanter's ability to play together.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
I like Monroe a lot, it would be a trade that was hard to pass up, but ultimately I think Kanter is actually a better fit with Favors. He has more ability to guard his guy 1 on 1 which gives Favors the opportunity to get some weak side blocks. I think the main complaint with Monroe is that he is below average (not horrible) on defense (a la Brook Lopez).

I am actually tempted by this trade. I think highly of Monroe and I think he'd be a great fit with the Jazz organization as a whole.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
As a great passing bigman, he'd fit well in our offense. But I believe Kanter can become a go-to guy someday. Kanter has 20-10 potential. I agree with everyone else, the trade is pretty fair.

yes, i think monroe fits the jazz very well. he'll fit even better if sloan was coaching and not corbin. but i see more potential in kanter.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
Kind of fair and I gotta be honest, I'm still afraid that Kanter won't be a star on this league... But I wouldn't dismiss him without at least trying a season with him and Favors playing big minutes.
These 2 along Hayward can be the future of the franchise... but they are just no ready yet.
Maybe a tank job next season to get a top 5 pick wouldn't be a bad idea, to take a great SF or PG into the franchise.
I really hate tanking and I'm proud that our franchise doesn't do it often... but after watching so many teams doing it with good results, I'd say it's only fair. Doing it the right way will get you far like Indiana or something but won't get you the championship.

But seriously, for me, Enes is the main bright spot for the Jazz. I think he has shown huge potential, and if he can learn some great work ethic/skills from malone, I think he could potentially be dominant. That being said, even if he ends up being a bust, I think he is absolutely hilarious and he is just fun to watch. He works hard - and think about how much he has improved offensively from his rookie year! Even if the Jazz suck he would make the games/franchise bearable.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
Seems like a pretty fair trade. I rate Kanter higher than Monroe, but Knight will probably be better than the 14th pick. Kanter is my favorite Jazz player so I wouldn't do it. I expect Kanter will be a double double guy but Monroe hasn't averaged a double double despite already being a starter.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
i think most of us watch a lot of jazz games, and significantly less games of other teams, which is natural for us to do as jazz fans. however, what does it tell us if the pistons are willing to trade their former 8th pick for the 14th pick of a weaker draft - a player who is yet to adjust to the PG position, which was the main concern of him when he was drafted? should we want him to be our PG?

I like Monroe, but I hate the thought of Brandon Knight being our starting PG next season so I would say no to it. We passed on him in the draft for a reason.

Re: Monroe for Kanter?
As a piston fan I don't see Brandon knight as a fit in our offense he's very effective in an up tempo scheme and I'm not sure what you run but in the half court he struggles to make plays he can shows flashes of playmaking ability he's a very good shooter and an excellent defender, the feel for the game just isn't there. My hope is the mcw will be at 14 and we can draft him no one between our pick and yours is looking for a ph and since you guys want a pg who can shoot I figured it would be a good exchange Brandon knight can be a good scorer but right now he isn't a great pg I like mcw a lot so I was looking to move knight in hope that he's there. I also think there is a realistic chance Otto porter falls to 8 which could potentially give us a lineup of
MCW
Free agent(mayo or Gerald Henderson)
Porter
Kanter
Drummond
Balanced lineup that is more effective defensively and one where porters playmaking abilities in the high post can replace Monroe's.

Am I the only one who doesn't know wth this means? It seems to be the popular buzz phrase that SOMEBODY inserts into at least every thread...
