Summer League

Post#1 » by moonpie » Sun Jun 9, 2013 9:06 pm

So does anyone know if TWC will be airing the Vegas Summer League games? I propose that this be made the official summer league thread once my question is answered 8-)

NBATV usually does. Some games overlap, which those games are shown on NBATV right after the last live game is played. In those cases, I just watch it on stream to watch both games.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if the Laker SL games would be broadcast on TWC since I don't have NBA TV, but I guess I'll have to watch crappy streams :(

Crappy streams are the best.

Streams aren't that bad and sometimes there are some good ones. I use those to watch UFC. When Directv didn't have TWC yet, I just attached my HDMI cable to the TV and settled for watching the Lakers that way. I don't expect the Lakers to have a great summer league squad. They'll probably bring in Goudelock, Sacre, DJO, maybe Morris and some other possible training camp fillers and free agents, unless of course they pick up some promising rookies through trades.

Crappy streams still beats having no live TV/stream coverage at all when the Lakers played at the LBC Pyramid. Or you can just upgrade your TV package for a month to get NBATV. I did that for the Olympics to get all the sports channels.

Well the 0-8 Lakers preseason games where cast on TWC, so I guess the Lakers Summer League will be broadcast on TWC also.

Bump, found some news on SL.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow ... 2914.story

The NBA announced its Las Vegas summer league schedule on Wednesday, featuring 22 teams competing in a 61-game schedule.

The Lakers will make their debut on the league's opening night July 12, playing the Cleveland Cavaliers.

NBA TV will televise a full slate of games, held at both the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion.

The Lakers are initially scheduled to play three games:

Friday, July 12: Cleveland Cavaliers — 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 14: Portland Trail Blazers — 3:30 p.m.
Monday, July 15: Clippers — 5 p.m.

Teams will compete in three preliminary-round games July 12-16 before being seeded in a tournament running through the championship game July 22. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games. The winner will be crowned "the first ever NBA Summer League Champion."

The Lakers haven't announced their roster yet but free-agent forward Marcus Landry is expected to be on team.

Marcus Landry officially on the team it seems, hoping we invite DJO as well.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow ... 6127.story

Free agent forward Marcus Landry will join the Lakers' summer league team in Las Vegas, according to his agent, Keith Kreiter of Edge Sports.

Keith Kreiter @Edge_Sports
Marcus Landry to join the Lakers summer league team- great opportunity for Marcus-- he spent time with D'Antoni in New York.

Landry is a 6-foot 7-inch forward out of Wisconsin who went undrafted in 2009.

The brother of Golden State Warriors forward Carl Landry, Marcus Landry played 17 games for the Knicks in 2009-10 under Coach Mike D'Antoni. In February of 2010, Landry was traded to the Boston Celtics, with whom he made a single three-minute appearance.

Landry has gone through training camps with the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns. He was an NBA Development League All-Star this past season with the Reno Bighorns -- where he won the three-point contest.

Through 35 games with the Bighorns, Landry averaged 16.5 points a game while shooting 42.8% from three-point range.

One of the Lakers' off-season goals is to add shooting and athleticism.

The Lakers have yet to announce their summer league roster but a team spokesman said that, while nothing is official, the Lakers expect Landry to be a part of their squad in Las Vegas for summer league play July 12-22.

How can this Strickland be a UFA if he was undrafted? and basing from draft express, they just signed another Darius Morris.
