Mike Wilner blocked me on Twitter

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Mon Jun 10, 2013 2:22 am

Seriously... the dude needs to get over himself.

I made one simple tweet yesterday that I think he talks down to fans when he feels they are wrong, and he blocked me. His ego, his attitude, and his show on the Fan590 needs to be shown the door if he can't take some very simple criticism from a Jays fan.

Do I care that he blocked me? not really, I just think it's really unprofessional on his part to talk to fans the way he does. I understand he gets attacked a lot likely, but I made one tweet in reply to someone else and I thought it was pretty minor.

What do you think of Wilner?

Lol yeah, he blocked me because I criticized him about using small sample size in full caps. He is a full blown douchebag.

To be honest, there are way too many ignorant fans that call fan590 and message him on twitter and I appreciate that he puts them in their place. He is definitely a blue jays optimist, but compared to the hacks on fan590 and eric smith/paul jones, gord stellick/ric natters, he's a break of fresh air.

Your just feeding the troll himself and no one can outgun the Wilner. I usually tune into post-game when they lose just to here what people have to say and his responses. But at the end of the day, he's working for Rogers and he will never spew a negative comment to management. He may spew dislike to players, but never to management. He's waiting tlll Jerry Howardth retires to earn that play-by-play position, until then you can expect a lot of the same.

welcome to the club. he blocked me early last season after i called him a company man for vehemently defending francisco cordero. he's said it on his show "tweet me, but be nice or else you won't be able to tweet me again", and i'm sure he's blocked several hundred people, if not thousands. he does need to get over himself. i can understand how many idiots he has calling into his show or tweeting him, but for the most part he's a condescending prick regardless of who you are or what you say to him.

Wilner can be quite the ****, but it's his job to be an apologist/homer for the organization. So yeah, I don't quite get the criticism here. I also can't exactly blame him for blocking people that insult him either.

he talks down to people in general, even to the players. his interview with Rajai last night after the game he sounded like he was Rajai's dad or professor or something and was leading him into saying the "right things" the entire time. it was very annoying. I just don't feel the guys passion towards the game or the team when i hear him talk about baseball. Jerry always sound like he really care about the players and the game of baseball, that's why people enjoy listening to him all these years. if MW takes over after Jerry retires i will probably stop tuning into the radio baseball broadcast.

I would like to think Wilner is a company shill but to me it sounds like he honestly believes the things he says.

I took the proactive approach with him.
Last year I blocked him first before he could ever block me.

I always have found him annoying, insecure, and disrespectful.
Plus I never wanted to see another tweet from him.

Oz the lock becomes blocked.

Seriously, if you have an opinion that differs from him he just shuts you down and treats you like crap. Not even talking about trolls. He does this for anyone that presents a valid argument that differs from his opinion. I never comment to him, but I do follow him and see this all the time. At least respond with facts if you're going to shoot someone down.

He is a total narcissist, what do you expect? IMO, you should consider it a positive that you don't have to waste your time talking to the wall that is Wilner. I can't listen to him on the radio the way he talks to Blue Jay fans.

It sucks that he hosts the main post game show because all he does is defend the team to no end. Early in the season when fans were upset with the way they were playing, he just kept going on and on about how it's too early.

But the fact is, they were playing utter crap baseball with no idication of them turning it around.

Trolls have better ratings - sad but true. People tune in - a douchebag makes for better radio.

That part where you made a thread bitching about it kinda says otherwise Ozzy. ;)

Seriously though, these bloggers/writers/personalites etc get so many negative messages in the instant message era I don't know how they continue. If I was one of these guys, I'd be blocking people all over the place too. It's the only way you can keep your sanity.

Hey Ozzy, i had a thread on this goof last August- viewtopic.php?f=123&t=1202404

To be fair, maybe his bosses are telling him that he has to be an apologist to be gainfully employed and keep his job. However, this team is 11 Games back of Boston and 9.5 Games out of the Wild Card, and Mike Shillner takes to the radio a couple of days back telling everyone that this team can get back in the hunt of things, and they are playing good baseball since the 10-21 start (LOL). What is this guy smoking? I understand he has to be an apologist and shill, but has this guy seen the standings? When a caller tells Mike Shillner about the Standings of the Al East, Mike Shiller

ignores him, and said there are over 100 games left in the season and it is early June. However, back in April, he was saying that the Standings should mean something in the end of May/Early June. Now it June 10, but Shillner says there are over 100 games left (LOL). Keep apologizing for the Jays and your bosses. Everyone knows this guy's act, and i am glad many on twitter are calling him out for being the Rogers Shill that he is. I am glad Hayhurst and Blair called him an apologist as well last week, because everyone knows if you look up the word "Apologist, Shill, and Homer"- Mike Wilner takes the prize.

I honestly don't care that he's a homer, we have plenty of those in the Toronto media, it's the fact that he talks down to people who he doesn't agree with.

If he could debate with someone without stooping to the level of a six year old I wouldn't mind it. I just think as someone who is trying to promote the sport of baseball he is doing more harm than good.

Blocking half the fan base because we are having a losing season and people want to vent isn't a good thing for his listenership. I hope Rogers sees that and does something about his attitude towards others.
