R.I.P. Drazen Petrovic

Post#1 » by Petrofor3 » Sat Jun 8, 2013 11:33 pm

Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of his tragic death. It is because of Drazen i am a Nets fan today. One of the greatest shooters ever and dominated europe like nobody else did. I loved watching this man play. Played heart and love for the game. Hearing Spencer Ross yelling Petro for 3 GOT ITTTTT brings tears to my eyes. R.I.P. my fellow Croatian brother. Croatia will always love you.

Great shooter. Best I have ever seen. He was also always willing to take a photo or an autograph after games from what I remember outside the offices at then Brendan Byrne. I had so much respect for Drazen I went to his memorial service at the Croatian Church in Manhattan. One of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. The entire team was there and most really took his death hard.

I will never forget when I first heard about it. In those days we got those ticker sports updates I think it was SportsChannel. I was sitting on the bed and this update came in that he was killed on the autobahn. It was an absolute shock.

Ye i was there as well. To me it felt like a family member just passed away. Met Drazen several times at that church as he frequently attended church. He was such a nice guy. Would take photos talk to you sign autographs. He was such a down to earth person.
