There is still a small part of me that believes Mullens can be a solid starter, but damn that guy is stupid, literally.

Same here. I actually think new coaching staff could help him as they were working with Anderson before. But I don't have my hopes up and won't be sad to see him go. After all if his cap hold would stand in a way of some useful salary dump deal...

I can't see the new coach, Steve Clifford, dedicating more time & focus to Mullens' development with strict sternness than Dunlap did. No way does Charlotte even extend the qualifying offer in excess of $3 million to him this offseason

Even when his shots go in, you're wondering why he shot it in the first place. He's still young, and last season was his 2nd season with legitimate playing time. However, how many boneheads with poor shot selection and inefficient scoring end up doing a 180?

Mully had more three point attempts per game than guys like Bargnani and Dirk in fewer mins per game - and he only hit them 31% of the time.
That bothers me SO much.

Dunlap gave him way too much of a green light.

The thing I have the biggest issue with is that there are only so many hours in a day.
Do we really want Ewing to leave mid drill with Biyombo to go work with Mully...

All season he was partying with strippers and whores in the green light district.

That is fair enough, Dunlap was all about the 3 ball - but he also did challenge Mully to use a post game and rebound as well - which is didn't do that great.
Maybe this season if Mully can tone down the long ball attempts, work the post more and grow a pair I will come around on him. Its going to be an uphill battle for him to swing me though.

We need 3 pt shooters to spread the floor.
Last year there was Gordan . . . and who?
That's why CHA desperately needs to add several shooters this summer.
McLemore, Dunleavy, Garcia among other options. Bring in several 3 ballers and Mully won't need to be hoisting dying quail from 3 land.

But he will probably do so anyway because he's that dumb.

We don't need no McLemore. Just sign the best 3-point threats via free agency. We don't need to waste a top pick on a guy who's job is to make open shots when we need frontcourt help the worst way.

Bring in Morrow and Garcia on small contracts, re-sign all our guys (Hendo, McBob, Mully) and retain Pargo. Let Mully and McBob use the 3-ball sparingly, and it all good. I have no problem with McBob or even Mully firing from deep, but Dunlap gave both of them the green light to do so whenever they pleased. Neither is good enough to take a ton of attempts. Luckily McBob knew that.

Re: "No No No, Don't Shoot" - The Byron Mullens Thread
As previously said you don't spend a top 4 pick just for spot shooting. Can McLemore do more than that? I think so, and if we draft him he damn well better.
Long range shooting specialist are easy to find in free agency. Dunleavy, Redick, Neal, Morrow, Korver, etc.

Agreed wholeheartedly on McLemore. I'm not convinced that he's anything more than a very athletic JJ Redick.

Re: "No No No, Don't Shoot" - The Byron Mullens Thread
Ehh I've held out hope for Mullens throughout the season saying he has potential to be good but I don't think he's going to ever reach his ceiling. This guy could at least hit midrange shots, has the potential defensively, be a good rebounder and be a good scorer in the frontcourt + his athleticism but he's really too dumb bball IQ wise to be the player he can be. Reminds me of Javale McGee tbh
Even with Ewing on board and presumably also working with the bigs, I doubt he'll be anything special.
He's in his 5th year in the NBA. I hope the FO can determine what kind of player Mullens is if they make him stay in the paint and play tough. Then whatever the results of that, make that the base of the decision they will make on Mullens.

I've said that months ago!
Still from top tier options I like him. He fits current trend, where 3pt shooting is the king.

If three point shooting is the king then why not trade down for Lamb and 12 and draft a big man at 12?

GB Coach Prunty humbles himself, targets BG and Mully.
"New Great Britain coach Joe Prunty has begun to contact prospective recruits for his first squad this summer, despite delays in finalising his bench staff for EuroBasket. However MVP can reveal that Charlotte Bobcats pair Ben Gordon and Byron Mullens are among those on Prunty’s long-list for Slovenia. The surprise move – which is likely to prove unpopular with the existing squad – comes a year after both declined selection for the Olympic Games despite a lengthy courtship from British Basketball officials."

Yeah I was surprised Mullens passed up on it last year. A chance to play for your country is such a great honor. In my eyes it is anyway.
