Ed Pickney Baby

Post#1 » by eitanr » Thu Jun 13, 2013 1:26 pm

As you may have heard from the WT my man Ed Pickney is interviewing for the Memphis job.

I assisted Ed with some advanced stats material that would aid his interview process. The hope is that if he can talk his way through stats and prove to be a believer of analytics that job is his.

If he gets the job I may be assisting the staff in some consulting capacity. If that happens, I will share insight with everyone here and ask for real suggestions the staff or team should implement.

The only way this can happen is if everyone on this board can get behind Ed. The more social chatter about how you want Ed as the next coach, the better his chances are. If you help him, and I am brought on board to some capacity, I will keep this board heavily involved in any decision making suggestions I have the power to make.

He's a long shot now, but with your help this board can have a real say in Memphis decision making.

what is the "WT"? I'm certainly more interested in him than Gentry. Thibs was a great coach for Boston for a while and now he's taken the Bulls back to contender status. That's been an excellent staff in Chicago. Pickney seems like he's won at a lot of levels and successful in NBA as player and coach. But is he ready for a team like the Grizz?

The one positive I can say is that he is definitely an underdog to get the job.

Therefore the expectation level can be surpassed with an awesome interview.

It could work. I would be happy with a person who has never been a head coach (correct me if I'm wrong) getting the position.

It could instil new life and fresh ideas into the team, which is something we probably need at this stage.

ESPN put out a very positive story on his interview today:

didn't realize the Pat Riley connection.
