You sure about that one? :P

Saunders has given every indication that we will bring Pekovic back, so why should I think otherwise?

What if AK47 opts out? Can the Wolves pay K-Love and Ak and Pek BEFORE even tying up money to their most important player?

They weren't touted as similar prospects, so I'm not sure that the comparison has merit.

Sure, its not the be all end all, but it is something that reflects in their games. McLemore won't be able to shoot over 90% of the guys guarding him because he's not 6'10" like Durant is.

A Rubio contract won't go into effect until the 2015-16 year. Right now, the only person on the books is Love (his opt-out year), so why wouldn't we be able to? At that point, we won't be paying $12m on the backup PG position, so there's a bunch of freed up cap space right there.

Two things that worry me about McLemore: 189 pounds, bench pressed 6 times.

By comparison, Oladipo (at the same height): 213 pounds, bench pressed 15 times.

Durant zero, Joe Alexander 24

185? I've done that 15+ times at 150 lbs but it doesn't help me play basketball one lick. It helps to have short arms on the bench press. So basketball players typically don't test as well on that particular exercise.

Pekovic can bench press McLemore plus that 189 pounds.

Rev can bench press Pekovic plus McLemore plus 189 lbs plus a couple hot wives as a cherry, or cherries as it were, on top

Bench press is just one exercise, and it's not representative at all. You only use pectoralis, triceps and front shoulder muscle to execute it. Give me their numbers at squats, chin-ups and deadlifts and then we can talk.

Combine numbers are so misleading. I haven't figured out if you can determine anything from them at all.

I'd love to know how many times Pek can do 185. I'll say 140 times.

Re: Flip has confirmed Oladipo is ahead of McLemore on Board

Post#451 » by Klomp » Thu Jun 13, 2013 4:58 pm

Since taking over the decision-making responsibilities in the Minnesota Timberwolves' front office in early May, Flip Saunders has traveled to New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami and most recently Italy for work-related reasons.

He can now add Washington D.C. to that list.

According to a league source, Saunders is meeting with Indiana two-guard Victor Oladipo in D.C. on Friday morning.

There's a lot of subterfuge in the weeks leading up to the June 27 Draft. But numerous team and league sources insist Saunders' interest in Oladipo is genuine and the former Indiana star is likely the top player on the Wolves' board.

The clear admiration and the fact Oladipo could fill a clear need has Saunders continuing to engage the teams in the top-5 in trade discussions. Not one league official thinks Oladipo gets out of the top-5, and there's even recent buzz that he could be the No. 1 overall pick.

Whether forward Derrick Williams is the trade bait to facilitate such a move remains to be seen, but league personnel think Saunders' lovefest with Williams right now is a ploy to increase his value.

That Oladipo's camp granted Saunders the gathering shows that he's demonstrated to them an ability to move up.

Huuuummmmmmmm.........

So you saying we got a chance?

YYYEEEAAAAAASSS!!!!!

The dream of Oladipo running with Rubio is alive for at least 14 more days!!!

Do it Flip, make it happen.

Best offer Flip will make to the Magic IMO:

Orlando trades their 1st Round Pick (2nd overall) + Davis (6.4mil) + Lamb (.8Mil) to the Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + 1st Round Pick (26th overall) + Derrick Williams (5.0Mil) + Ridnour (4.3Mil) to the Magic.

This would improve cap space for the Magic in 2014-15 as Ridnour is an expiring contract vs. Davis & Lamb which both have a 2nd year attached to their contracts. Ridnour also would be an insurance for the Magic as they only have 1 PG on roster and they would surly target a PG with their 9th pick (MCW - Burke ) or with their newly acquired 26th pick.

Best offer Flip will make to the Wizards IMO:

Washington Wizards trade their 1st Round Pick (3rd overall) + Veseley (3.4Mil) + Singleton (1.6MIl)
to the Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + 1st Round Pick (26th overall) + Derrick Williams (5.0Mil) to the Wizards

Whatever Flip gets back from the Wizards it will only be valuable as in they are expiring contracts. The Wizards are looking for a P n R - Stop n Pop Stretch.

Wizard fans have suggested that Flip took on Kevin Seraphin as a personal project when he coached there, and perhaps he'd view him as the "additional asset" he was asking for from CHA when he said he wouldn't just use Derrick Williams to move up from 9 to 4. Whether it's the 2, 3 or 4, Olidapo is still Olidapo, so unless his line last week was just a smokescreen (and it certainly could be), I'm still looking for some additional asset.

I know half the Wizards board would be happy to get Williams - they have a very intelligent group over there, and they don't over-rate their own young prospects.

I'd definitely take Seraphin if Washington wanted to include him. He could be a decent athletic big off the bench plus it would give Gelabale someone to talk to.

I also would take Seraphin in a heart beat, I just don't think the Wizards would give him up. The only way I see the Wizards giving up Seraphin in a trade to move down is if they really like a couple of options of BIGS with the #9 pick. There is no doubt we would have to take on Vesely, the question is who would be the other Wizard asset.

I think Oladipo will be very good. I'd still rather have McLemore though.

Seraphin and #3 for Williams and the #9 is what i keep coming back to. Seems to work for both teams, depending on how much they like Williams.

Under the terms of this particular trade above Washington has to throw in another contract to make it legal. I also don't think the Twolves or any other team trying to make a deal with Washington can do it without the Wizards insisting that the other team take on Veseley....IMO.

If Saunders insist on Seraphin with Veseley we would be taking on about 1 mil more of contract (minus Williams), plus an additional $500,000l with the swaps in picks.

1,963,600 (9th) vs. $3,444,400 (3rd) vs. losing 26th pick.

1.5 extra mil for the Twoves.

Not bad.
