Ric Bucher is a classless, amateur misinformed hack.

I don't get how could a guy who was wrong EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY in reporting this saga, THROUGHOUT, come up with this bullsht.

The NBA would be a much better place without Ric Bucher reporting about it. Hopefully after ESPN realized what a hack he is, slowly everyone else would too. That man is a shame to his profession.

Bucher much like most of the SEA reporters were being told how wrong they were, once it was proven they got called out and now the butt hurt flows through them.

Leaders of a taxpayer group said they are reconsidering their demand for a special election in December to vote on the public financing of the Downtown Sports and Entertainment complex.

I also read somewhere (can't remember where) a couple of days ago that the lawsuit has stalled as well.

Anyway the opposition I think is quickly finding out that there is no opposition to a new arena in downtown, and we're also fine with how it's being financed.

Yeah, it's a losing battle. As far as I can tell, the only thing that could really derail this now is if the environmental review doesn't go well. But that seems like a super longshot.

Side note: It's so great to see this board starting to get active again.

Here's an excellent read and some semi-insights on the inside deals that went down during the relocation saga.

http://www.sacbee.com/2013/06/15/5498635/sacramento-mayor-kevin-johnson.html

Interesting tidbits:

Speaking before a Warriors game in Oakland, Stern declared the bid was inadequate. He wouldn't go into details, but later told The Bee the bid was $495 million – $30 million shy of Seattle's.

--A source close to the Sacramento group said the low bid was partly strategic. If Sacramento immediately matched Seattle's price, Hansen and Ballmer might raise their offer and trigger a costly bidding war.

and

--Once inside, the Sacramento group couldn't believe its good fortune. Based on the questions from the committees, it appeared the Seattle delegation had blundered.

According to Lehane, the Seattle group made false and easily refutable claims about Sacramento. The most blatant: Sacramento's investors didn't control the land they needed to build an arena.

"We all sort of looked at each other like, is this a trick question?" Lehane said. "It was an enormous mistake." The miscue let Sacramento bolster its credibility.

Pretty much confirms what we knew all along. Not a single person on the Seattle side had any of their facts straight, and the throwing more money at the situation were mere pointless acts of desperation. Their arrogance caused them to underestimate us, and they ended up screwing themselves because of it, which isn't surprising considering they have that moron Ballmer in their midst. Thank God Mayor Johnson is one brilliant and determined man, and thank God we were smart enough to elect him (twice!). If I were Ballmer, I would throw all of my money at KJ to be CEO of Microsoft.

By a 7-2 vote, the council agreed to set aside $6.5 million in public funding on a new downtown arena for the Sacramento Kings – the first large investment in a facility that city officials have touted as the most significant redevelopment project in the history of downtown.

So we're already past the point where the **** hit the fan the last time. Things are humming along folks!

And apparently the STOP people are trying to get signatures at a Walmart...in ARDEN! For you non-Sacramentans, Arden is a community next door to, but not in, the City of Sacramento.
