Here's your chance to grab bragging rights as resident Wiz forum draft expert before CCJ or Dat lay claim to the title anyway. Starting this thread now because these types of threads ususally start a day or two before the draft when all the 'intel' is out there and everyone already knows who we're picking anyway. First name the player you'd draft if you were GM, then who you think EG will pick.
Me - 1st = Porter, 2nd = Withey
EG - 1st = Porter, 2nd = Some obscure but vaguely promising euro who will never play here.

Re: who you'd pick vs. who EGM will pick
doc:
#3 Noel, Porter, Trade down: Oladipo, Zeller, Len.
2nd rounders (based on availability on DX)
#38 LIvio Jean Charles draft and stash
# extra 2nd round pick from earlier trade:
Arsalan Kazemi, potential draft and stash.
Maybe CJ Leslie, compadre and paisan of John Wall. Throw John a bone and pick up a fast break high flying slasher/ alley oop target.
#54 Andre Roberson
Ernie:
#3 Porter,
If not available, try to trade down hoping to land Zeller or Len, get no takers.
Instead overpay (with future picks as throw ins) to land Enes Kanter. Yours truly will react exuberantly and optimistically, overly excited to think we can draft Gorgui Dieng -- until it comes out that we do not land the Jazz' #14, whereupon I will throw the remote at the cat, and sulk without outlet until the next day when RealGMs techs finally get the site back online after it crashed for a record fifteen hours.
Later medical exam will show after the trade is finalized that the big Turk is a medical marvel born with no spine whatsoever and webbed feet like a mallard. Still can play, maybe, but won't matter though since he'll get a stress fracture stepping off the bus and will sit for the rest of his contract.
#38 throw in on above trade, or on some pointless trade of our trash for their slightly better trash who is signed longer
#54 Nemanja Nedovic draft and stash

Ha ha. It kinda looks like those early 2nd round picks are made up names. Just string together a few random syllables and add an "ic" at the end and you've got a Euro-player for Ernie!

LOL, I assume whoever we pick in the 2nd round will have a last name that ends in either a KY or IC.

DX has Canaan going to the Spurs at #28 in the first round. I suspect he will shine in workouts and be snatched by somebody before our #38.

I have Porterovic and Zellerski ahead of them.

Me:
Trade down with Minni for #9, #26, Williams and Ridnour, giving them #3 and any or all of Ernie's Kids.
#9 -take Zeller. Use #26 for Noguiera, and #38 for Canaan/Jackson/Wolters in decending order. Seth Curry for #54
Ernie:
Porter, CJ Leslie. Leslie fits as an Ernie pick, athlete previously thought to be a higher pick so a "bargain", and has the Wall angle just like Satoransky last year

Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

I can't be in front of others (well, maybe EG, but nobody else) as far as how to use 2nd round picks, but one of those PGs makes sense. I don't mind that trade, and if Zeller is gone, I'd be fine with McCollum (Wall/Beal/McCollum/Ridnour/Canaan suddenly sounds like a vastly improved backcourt, if a little on the short side) or even Bennett (have Williams and Bennett compete for minutes). Maybe even Adams, though that might be a little too high. Don't know enough about Nogueira. What am I talking about? I don't know enough about anybody.

Re: who you'd pick vs. who EGM will pick
I don't know enough about anybody either, I'm just playing the game. Noguiera seems like a good idea because he's a young athletic shot blocker, with the Brazilian connection to Nene as an added plus.
I do think Zeller is close to equal value to anyone else we'd get at #3, and a better roster fit as a young big. he might not be a great post defender, but he'll rotate to the next man and hedge on screens really well and gets low better than anybody his size, so may help on D more than his alligator arms would indicate.
