I don't like any of the options.
And Other isn't actually Other when you define it as something specific.

I knew that if I put Bargs as an option it would get all the votes. This thread isn't about finding a unanimous easy-way-out. It's about making a tough decision to move this roster forward.
Why can't we get Dwight and Chris?

Why can't we get Dwight and Chris?
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/228147/Report-Howard-Paul-Want-To-Play-On-Same-Team-Next-Season
Since TL gives us all this hype that we should be a team that spends money on the correct players, here are two players that are begging to be together, why can't we make this happen. We can possibly keep Val and get rid of anyone else. I'm sure we will have either one of Rudy or Demar with us once it's said and done and then fill the rest with players that want to play for a contender. Give up the 2014 pick if need to, who wouldn't if it means getting Chris Paul and Dwight Howard on the same team.
We want to become a franchise like the Lakers that create dynasties, then why not go for it? Spend all those Rogers and Bell pennies now.. why wait.. Lakers were about to do a Bargnani for Gasol trade, they can move Gasol to someone else if they can get rid of Dwight. Amir Johnson would look nice in Clipperland.. along with T-Ross, Rudy Gay and Kyle Lowry. We get to keep Demar.
Make it happen.. I don't know how.. but just do it..
Dwight Howard and Chris Paul have been in contact with each other in an effort to play for the same team next season, according to sources.
"They would love to play together if somebody can make it happen," one of the sources said.

Because our heads would explode and there would be no fanbase left.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

I wouldn't trade Amir. Too good of a personality to have ad promote Toronto
I wouldn't trade demar, Lowry or gay right now cause I believe all f their values will go up next year ( optimistic but very possible)
I wouldn't trade Jonas unless I am getting an amazing package of multiple high end prospects

Why do we have to get rid of our best players when we need to cure the cancer first ( Bargs, AA etc...)
Genius. The only thing every GM has to do is get rid of their sh*t players and keep their best players. Championships for everyone!

The likeliness of DeRozan, Gay and Lowry improving their value (especially the later 2, since they are nearing the end of their contracts) are extremely unlikely. To me it isn't worth the multi-year investment of scrapping a .500 win percentage.
Firesale else you're just prolonging the inevitability of starting over with Valanciunas in 2 years time

Agreed, just too bad some posters here would rather just settle for mediocrity.

I think we will have to be content with a fire sale of the core until the deadline but hopefully it's sooner.

Re: You Be The GM
I hate to say it but I'd trade Amir- and if there's no clarity for Lowry beyond this year, I'd be inclined to move him too. For completely different reasons, mind you, but I think there's a healthy market out there for both of them.
I honestly think we've seen the best of Amir Johnson insofar as his durability is concerned. There's a lot of mileage on those legs and it's probably a matter of time. I think the only reason he's played so much over the past few years is reflected in his heart of a lion, but at some point (soon?) I figure he won't have a choice anymore- doctors, insurance, family will step in and he'll have to bring it down a notch. I haven't looked at his charts or his MRI's
so I don't know any of this for sure, but if they are going to deal him I reckon his value will never exceed where it stands today. I think he could fetch a substantial sum in return, potentially strengthen the core of the team, as well as complement how Ujiri elects to shape the post-BC roster. Sell high, basically.
As for Lowry, his imminent UFA is what worries me. Say what you will about Colangelo, he clearly overpaid at times, but I think he did a commendable job acquiring assets and rolling over expiring pieces in the wake of the Bosh fiasco. This must continue imo, if not improve under Ujiri. The Raptors have never been in any position to lose core players for pennies on the dollar- and yet the franchise has been repeatedly burned (i.e. decimated) in this fashion over the years. As far as it pertains to Lowry, they can ill afford to get the rug pulled out from under them again imo; and given their limited cap flex to begin with, it'll be especially important to protect this asset heading into 2014- even if it means to move him for futures. Imo the uncertainty surrounding Lowry's future may be the most critical/interesting question of Ujiri's first summer... whether they keep him or not. The rest of the options are merely dominoes (for now, anyway).
peace

Re: You Be The GM
Pretty much the only way I would trade Gay was if I could find a good deal for Rudy, Lowry, AND DD. A top ten pick and Eric Bledsoe is about the absolute worst return I would need to consider "tanking." I'm not trading Rudy for two decent 6th men. Been there, done that. We need talent, and hopefully Rudy re-signs @ a more reasonable cost.
The main thing I would try is to convince Reddick (to sign here, first of all) and the Bucks to trade for Bargnani and DD while giving up Ersan and Reddick. Give us one of the better shooters in the league and a very solid role player to replace Bargnani.
I would trade DD for a nice draft pick as well if a team like the Bobcats, Suns, or Pistons were willing.

Re: You Be The GM
Why is trade for shooting and bench depth and trade him for the best player you can, two different options here. Also what the poster mentioned about "other" is valid. I appreciate the effort, op, but you need to give some more thought to the options if you want a decent survey. Cheers.

I listed what the options were for "other" because people on here are so stupid that they might not realize what "other" means. Like how somebody can't figure out how trading for depth (with shooting being a part of it) or trading for another big contract, are 2 very different things.
People need to realize that Masai isn't going to blow it all up and/or intentionally tank. He also isn't going to stand pat and go into next year with the same starting 5. He's going to trade away at least one of the starting 5, maybe 2 of them. This is obvious to me and it should be obvious to everyone who's watched Raptor ball for a few seasons or more. So I thought that a poll where people vote on which type of big move should be made would be interesting to see which way fans are leaning. Since Gay or DD are the most likely to be moved, I gave 2 options for each of them.
However, I didn't explain it down to the very last detail as to WHY each option was listed (even though it seems obvious) AND didn't give morons the option to vote "they all stink, blow it all up!". Who are we kidding though, "Tank or not to Tank" is the most difficult question most posters on this board can get their heads around, so it was an exercise in futility from the start.

Is there any way we can grab a top-5 pick to take Bennett? I haven't seen a big man with feet as quick as his in the last 20 years. Plus he'll stretch the floor, but also has tremendous defensive and rebounding potential.
