He was even worse than you think he was. The first horrible he did was the Dragic trade. It was Dragic and a first for a half a year of Aaron Brooks. The late first was used on Marshon Brooks (meh), but could have been used on Chandler Parsons. The Morris draft could have been used on Leonard or Farried. Dragic, if he had not gone to Houston for year and a half could have likely been resigned $4-4.5 mm instead of $7.5MM. If we did not draft Markief we likely would not have cluttered up the roster with his slightly smaller brother. With the two young forwards on board, we might not have signed Beasely and with Farried on board, there would have less desire to sign Scola off of the amnesty wire.

Fortunately, Sarver stepped in and did not let Blanks compound the situation by signing Felton versus Dragic.

We would have 4 of 5 starter positions filled with quality NBA caliber players with a future instead of question marks and projects (Gortat Farried, Parsons, ___ and Dragic) instead of (Gortat, __, ___, ___, and Dragic) who would have been more economical ($7MM 2MM, 1MM and 4,5MM) for four starters versus ($7MM and 7.5MM) for two starters) and guys we would be willing to be rid of Scola, Beasley, the Morris.

HE WAS A FREAKING IDIOT.

Alas, hindsight is 20/20.

I don't think Dragic would have become as good as he has if the Houston trade didn't happen. Took him out of his comfort zone and forced him to step up. Markieff looked good his first year and many thought it seemed like a good pick. Not many people were thinking Farried or Parsons would be half the players they have become. Revisionist history is easy when you know what the outcome is.

Not really revisionist history. If you recall, the Suns took a look at Farried before and took a look at Leonard, both in pre-draft workouts. In fact the Suns had Farried in twice for workouts before electing to pass on him. There were also a lot of folks who thought the Dragic for Brooks move was awful at the time it was made - myself included.

As for the others- I'll admit it was rank speculation regarding the other Morrris not being here if we did not have Markief and I'll admit Dragic's potentially lower salary is speculation.

As to the comments about Dragic being better because he left, this is not something I buy into. He was very good in his second year on the Suns and he was very good in the later part of his 3rd year on the Rockets. He had lost confidence and was pressing during the portion of his 3rd year with the Suns, but part of that was he was playing with players that did not space the floor well and he was being challenged for playing time by Dowdell. But players gain and lose confidence all the time. It was a mistake by Blanks to make the snap judgment he did, trade him and then boldly pronounce Dragic was not going to be the Suns point guard of the future as he did in the press conference and there is no other way around it.
