Lakers fans are probably right about free agents, but at the same time, the 90's weren't that long ago. Not being down for long could easily be 6-8 years before being legitimate contenders.

Edit: I just realized the 90's WERE that long ago.

Don't really think the Clips trade Griffin. If I'm them Griffin and Bledsoe, with Jordan at center is a much better deal than having Dwight the headcase. Sterling loves Griffin and his marketability and gives him as much credit as CP3 for turning the franchise around.

Also don't see why if a Griffin for Howard swap was done why Bledsoe would have to be included. The Lakers don't have much leverage here with Dwight and would be lucky if they were to get Griffin back rather than Howard leaving to Houston or another destination where the Lakers get left with nothing.

so howard gets pissed for whatever reason that he can't play with clippers and paul due to negotiations by lakers/clips or any other problems in getting the deal done since he prefers the city of LA and ideally wouldn't have to leave the city...so he says screw it, i'm going to Houston and not deal with this nonsense anymore...

maybe Nash is on the books for $9M, but if he retires, then Lakers are looking good.

we won't stay down for long, that's for damn sure.

We can aesily trade Griffin/Bledsoe for picks if we wanna have clean slate come 2014.
I'm not a fan of Flop Griffin, but I'll do this trade. Howard/Meeks for Griffin/Bledsoe/Crawford.

Why again do the Clips give up Bledsoe or Crawford in a Howard deal? The Clips aren't the ones that are going to be left with nothing when Dwight leaves. The Lakers have absolutely no leverage in this. If they're given the option of letting Dwight go to Houston for nothing or a straight swap of Griffin for Howard, I think they do the Griffin deal 10 times out of 10.

Nope. We'd rather take nothing than help the other LA team compete for a title. If you think Lakers has absolutely NO leverage then what do you call the Clippers? The only way they can get Dwight is if the LAKERS say yes. So we demand Griffin/Bledsoe or we will both see Dwight and Paul team up and go to HOU/ATL.

The problem is the Clippers don't need to trade for Dwight. They'll be just fine the way they're built.

You're also crazy if you think CP3 is leaving the Clips. Every article written states that he's still likely to stay in LA. It's amazing how delusional Lakers fans are.

As a franchise you have to do what's best for your own team and not worry about what other teams are doing. The Lakers would take Griffin in a heartbeat rather than let Howard leave with no return. The Clipper doing this trade makes them marginally better, but the Lakers getting Griffin as opposed to getting nothing makes then much better.

Lakers fans delusional? How many times was that said last year when they were talking about getting Dwight. I remember people flaming the living sh** outta every Laker fan for thinking they had a chance. Same goes for Nash...what happens? They get BOTH. So delusional? c'mon bra... Mitch is a great Gm...he'll make things happen. Look at the Gasol deal...got a championship a year after. Signed Artest after his big year for cheap, and won another title. Managed to trade for Cp3 with Gasol (who everyone rips apart as having no value) and Odom, until Stern shot it down. I don't get how people knock Laker fans when they simply have faith in their management who always delivers.

Please don't use the injuries to Nash, Gasol, Howard, and Kobe this season as an argument to dispute this either.

As for the trades... I highly doubt Cp3 or Howard even leave their teams....it rarely happens in FA with players of that caliber. Not for nothing, but look how heated Cp3 was when the Laker deal fell apart...look how there was some drama going on with him in the Clippers locker room...I wouldn't be surprised if Cp3 found a way to the Lakers. He may threaten to walk to the Mavs, Hawks, or Houston as leverage. Not saying it will happen, but I wouldn't be shocked.

IF Howard were to go to the Clips, then Griffin and Bledsoe would be nice compensation. Especially if D'Antoni sticks around. Griffin plays that young Amare role, and Bledsoe can learn from Nash. Gasol gets to play in the post at center, and Ron can continue to perform well like last year. With everyone healthy, and some good FA signings, maybe a small move, and they could be a top 3 team again next year.

Try reading first before posting something like this. That will make you look less than stupid. This trade idea is base on this: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... ext-Season

So in order for Dwight and Paul to play for the Clippers, LAKERS need to agree for a sign and trade. So LAKERS do have all the leverage, right? Right? Again, we won't trade Dwight for Griffin and watch Clippers contend for the title year in and year out. We rather let Howard walk. So if we demand Griffin/Bledsoe or whoever we want, it is either Clippers accept it or we both watch Dwight and Paul play for HOU/ATL or any other teams that can sign them.

Lakers will be fine. We have our "2014 offseason plan". How about the Clippers? Do you think Griffin can take them to the promise land?

blake and pau in the d'antoni system makes alot more sense than with dwight
blake would put up monster numbers, it actually makes alot of sense.

lakers are idiots if they put all their money on 14'. LEBRON IS NOT COMING who else ya gonna get?

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

If Lakers plan is to keep running the D'Antoni System, we better forget about winning a championship. I am tired of hearing people saying we should get player X because he will fit in the "D'Antoni System". You know who's also "fit in the D'Antoni System"? Andrea Bargnani.

Cut out Lebron Melo and George, they don't have much reason to come to LA. Rondo hates the Lakers. Love would likely be the number 1 target. Also, Hibberts not a free agent till 2015/2016

Not sure why people are calling Lakers fans unrealistic or delusional. I think we all know their track record at signing/acquiring superstar talent. They will have a tough year next year but by 2014 they will be reloaded again.

Yes delusional that the 76ers would trade the most dominant player ever to them.
Delusional that the Bucks would trade them the best center in the game.
Delusional that they could sign away Shaq from Orlando.
Delusional that they could trade for Gasol with nothing but scraps.
Derlusional that they could trade for D12.
Delusional that PHX would ever trade Nash to a hated rival.
Delusional that they could get CP3 for Gasol/Odom. (Damn you Stern!)

If REALGM existed when all these went down I am sure everyone would have said Lakers fans were completely delusional until it happened. Don't hate because the Lakers are basically the only franchise that has always found away to not only be relevant but a championship contender.

The problem is, they already traded for Dwight and Nash and that turned out to be a bust. Now their assets are all gone and Kobe's suffered a major injury, and the list of free agents is full of guys that have no reason to go to LA. Kevin love or lamarcus aldridge is your future? Good luck. And you didnt trade for cp3, there was a preliminary agreement and then it was turned down.

The lakers will be back eventually, but they're about to go through the 90's again unless Dwight re-signs (which i still expect him to do). If he doesn't they're screwed because they traded a major asset for him (and even as a major disappointment still got the better end of it  ).
