Every draft is different, and there is a general consensus that the prospects available at the top of this draft would normally be mid-lottery picks in other drafts.

And also remember, that this is the league in which Mike Miller and Randy Foye were traded for the 5th overall pick. Or in which the Clippers traded an unprotected 1st rounder (expected to be 6-10th overall at the time of the trade) in exchange for Cleveland taking Baron Davis' contract. This pick turned into Kyrie Irving.

Portland accepted two very late 1st rounders to move back from 3rd to 6th. Boston traded the 7th overall pick for SEBASTIAN TELFAIR.....which is over looked now because they got Rajon Rondo at 21 in the same draft, but Portland was essentially able to parlay Telfair into Brandon Roy.

The moral? You never know. Teams will do crazy things if they aren't enamored with any particular prospect in their draft range. And GMs look out for themselves first. If Orlando's GM (Hennigan, is it?) feels that there is too much risk of failure at #2 and that drafting a player that busts or fails to deliver on expectations could make him look bad, he would absolutely make a move in the interest of self preservation.

Do I think Orlando will trade just to trade? No. But they might be willing to accept a lot less than you would think. Getting the #2 pick is usually impossible. This year, though, it looks very doable.

I love Oladipo as well. I think he'll be the quintessential glue guy for a lot of years. I'd be surprised if Cleveland took him first overall, but I would support that decision. To get the #1 pick and take Noel.... I'm having flashbacks to Detroit taking Darko second overall.

Media reports suggest they are serious about drafting him... but it could be bunk... or they trade, etc
