Generally I would say no thanks to someone who is more than capable of jacking up 30+ shots per night at 30%... but Ellis would give us a legitimate 3-point threat and would provide a much more dangerous threat off the bench than Bayless does.

Goes without saying, but if he came, I would think he'd be 6th man (even though he probably wouldn't)..

Really don't know how this might work, but if someone would care to offer a dollar amount that he would agree to and that the Grizz could afford, I could move off the fence?

Obviously can't give you a dollar amount but I would be VERY surprised if Ellis could command a contract worth more than $6-$7 million per year. Even that would be a stretch IMO, which is funny because by opting out with the Bucks, he's walking away from $11 million..

I would be happy if we offered him say $17 million over 3 years. He just isn't worth that much anymore when you consider his inefficient play. Bucks fans, I'm guessing, would be happy to lose him...

That is a little confusing since Milwaukee offered a 36 million extension that included the 11 million he opted out of this upcoming season, so I really don't see him turning that down for 7 million a year even if he has a home here in Eads. Sacramento looks more likely if they draft a much taller point guard with their first pick and Amnesty John Salmons which has been reported.

Dumb people will always offer crap players big contracts... The Bucks probably think he is integral to their future plans, but let's be realistic.. the guy is a chucker who might play a blinder of a game one in every five... maybe. He is not worth $11 million per season and if he were smart he would have taken the Bucks' offer and run as fast as he possibly could before they realised he is robbing them blind...

I think the fundamental problem with Ellis is that he thinks he is worth more than he really is. What would you be happy paying him if he ended up our way?

Personally speaking, I wouldn't want to be paying Ellis more than $6 million per year if he came to Memphis..

A big part of his pay with the Grizz would be his role with this group. You can't pair him with Conley because history has proven that doesn't work unless both are Hall of Famers like Thomas and Dumars. Therefore he has to come off the bench which I don't think he is a fan of and something he hasn't done since early in his career.

Now for the money, I can't see a way that the Grizz can sign both Tony Allen and Monta Ellis. The consensus is that Allen command at least 5 million per season leaving only a deal starting at the mid level available unless someone else were moved from the roster.

I do believe there are more unpopular moves to come this offseason so funds may become available, but how wise is it to pay 8-9 million to a bench player even if you can find the minutes to justify it. That was a large market luxury that no longer exists with the new CBA.

Conley is our point guard and the organization is committed to him so I just can't see it happening, unless Tony Allen gets a full three year guarantee offer from another team and accepts it, then maybe 8 million a year(for Ellis) with four guaranteed years is not so bad. Maybe more minutes for Tony Wroten can offset the defensive issues we will inherit.

S&T would work but prince would have to be part of it.

It's fun to pick isolated comments, without and context to it, isn't it?

There really is no need for context. You said he was a three point threat. If three point threat meant "one of the worst three point shooting guards in the entire NBA" you may have a point.

Warriors fan, when MONTA Ellis played for the warriors it seemed like Grizz fans loved him. Maybe just warriors broadcasting but it always looked like he had signs and jerseys. The game is about buckets and that's what he is all about.

He owns a house in Memphis because his girlfriend is from here. He's from Jackson, MS. (which kinda puts him from the area since there are so few big cities in this part of the country)

Lot of speculation about him coming here because of all those ties.

Can Grizzlies sign Billups and Ellis? I've seen Austin Daye pic, it seems that he is trying to bulk up. Will Memphis bring him back? I think it would be perfect mix from the bench. Trade Bayless for future picks and give time to youngsters.

Gasol/Koufus/Leuer
Z-Bo/Davis/Reed/Leuer
Pondexter/Prince/Daye
TA/Ellis/Franklin/Wroten
Conley/Billups/Wroten

Koufus-Davis-Prince-Ellis-Billups is good 2nd unit.

Billups would not make a lot of sense until the decision was made to give up on Tony Wroten which will not happen prior to Summer league and who doesn't shine in Summer League?

BTW Monte Ellis is married, and moving Bayless would be necessary because he will not sign for the midlevel (at least I don't think he will) Although you still would need to fix the starting lineup as you probably can't continue to play TA and Prince together. All you need to know about this duo is TA is the more willing three point shooter with that knuckle ball he throws up there, Prince simply does not want to take that shot and defenses know it.

thanks for info! It seems strange... Did Prince set record of 3pt in NCAA game? Usually 3pt shot tends to get better with repetition (years)...
