Assistant Coaches

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 3:52 am

So Roy Rogers is out and i'm hoping Dee Brown is as well. Roy Rogers was a big loss and i would hope they bring in someone that is equally experienced. I really wanted Patrick Ewing, however he's joining the bobcats bench i believe.

Question is? Who did you want and who do you think we'll get

As far as assistant coaches go, i'm really ignorant. i would prefer someone with a pedigree and reputation. Hopefully a former player. I wouldn't mind laimbeer, but i think his poor attitude would be too much for this team.

David Joerger
Joerger moved to Sioux Falls to become the head coach of the Skyforce and proceeded to win his fourth CBA Championship, giving him more minor league championships than minor league-turned-NBA head coaches Phil Jackson, Flip Saunders, George Karl and Eric Musselman combined. An excellent teacher of the game, Joerger

Lloyd Pierce

He's the developmental coach for the Grizz

Jason Kidd if he doesn't get the head coach gig in Brooklyn.

Brian Hill is also out. John Loyer will stay, he coached under Cheeks in both Portland and Philly. Dery also says Aaron McKie is a name to watch out for as a potential assistant. No word on any big man coach.

Losing Rogers was all part of Joe's plan to hire Hakeem as the bigman coach. On the cheap too. Book it

Joerger is probably a no go. My guess is he'll be hired as the HC by the Grizz.

I heard he was the defensive mastermind for the Grizz.

Laimbeer's not going to give up a lucrative position in the WNBA for an assistant job here. He's the president and GM of the NY Liberty. Despite what some fans think of the WNBA, Bill loves it there and he's a done a great job to work his way to the best market with the most power. He's not going to give that up, to sit on a bench here with little to no actual imput.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 3m
From NBA's coaching grapevine: Heard tonight that new Pistons coach Mo Cheeks covets former OKC colleague Rex Kalamian as his top assistant

For what it's worth...

http://www.nba.com/thunder/team/coaches.html

Rex Kalamian | Assistant Coach

With nearly 20 years of NBA experience, Rex Kalamian is set to begin his fourth season with the Thunder after previous coaching tenures with the Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

As an assistant with the Thunder, Kalamian is chiefly responsible for game preparation and player development. During his time in Oklahoma City, much of Kalamian’s focus has been on the Thunder’s offensive efforts. During the 2011-12 season, the Thunder finished the year as the third highest scoring team in the NBA (averaged 103.1 points per game).

There's a couple of more paragraphs too.

If Joe was even half that clever. He can't pull a rabbit out of a hat before the other 29 GM's already figured out the trick.

Then there's this:

Adrian Wojnarowski: One of market's most recruited assistant coaches, Detroit's Roy Rogers, is no longer destined for Phoenix, sources tell Y! Nets in play. Twitter @WojYahooNBA

Hopefully we keep him here after all...

Why would Rogers balk now? Did Sarver try and low ball him? Did the fact that Len, Noel and Bennett could be off the board when PHX picks and thus he has no young bigs to mold change his mind or did Jason Kidd give him a call to come to Brooklyn?
