Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
I don't understand the Clipper Management's game plan at all, why are they putting all their eggs in one basket. KG is OLD & is owed a ton of cash for a year, Doc is a good coach, not great. Sure players love Doc, but he has had a stacked team for years & has only won one Championship.
I get that we have to do something to impress to CP3 that the Clippers are in a "WIN NOW" mode, but I don't think this is the answer. I like the idea of of going after Granger & Ariza, then maybe try & do a sign & trade w/ Utah for Jefferson or just get him outright.
The Celtic fans are going nuts thinking that we are going to overpay for their OLD, TIRED RETREADS, that I even suggest we throw in Kate Upton b/c they are living in a Fantasy World..
Management, please be smart and really think about assembling a team not throwing together a bunch of OLD guys (be done w/ the Malone, Payton Lakers) and me feeling that I have wasted a ton of money on Season Tickets.
At the end of the Day we will see if CP3 is a Man of his Word and wants to rebuild w/ the Clippers.

IF it costs us DJ & a 1st for Doc & KG ........ I can live w/ that; anything else is stupid! If Pierce wants to get released & come for the Vet's minimum. we can think about it. I hope we offer Barnes a new contract w/ a pay raise, he deserved it.
I just want this Clipper/ Celtic Drama to be over!

I especially like the idea that we'd be possibly getting courtney lee from this. I don't like jason terry's salary so i hope we can trade him somewhere if we get him (maybe with bledsoe?). Cant wait for this to be over. I'm doing more tweeter watching than work atm lol. Too much drama. #imhooked

Re: Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
Let's be honest, Garnett is a very very short term benefit out of this trade. The two main things we want is Doc and PP (i realise he is old but even with limited minutes he will still add value to this team). We need either blake or Howard if we want to be a contender for the next 3 or 4 years. As good as 'depth' is you can't have 10 players on the court at the same time. In the playoffs it showed that putting our 'best 5' on the court was not as good as the opposition. We desperately need another scorer. Griffin struggles to score against more dominant bigs and ends up taking jump shots. Crawford (like everyone else) has bad games which rule him out. my 2 cents.

Re: Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
fans, so resistant to change.
we're not winning a damn thing with the current DeAndre Jordan in at center.
u get one of the best coaches in basketball. u get a center who is better at the same cost...not only better, he can shoot the damn basketball and free up griff and can still play some elite defense.
it's pretty easy to understand why we're doing this.
as long as we keep bledsoe, we've kept our insurance policy...something to trade for a piece that will last us past KG's final year.
edit:
CP3 isn't 22-24. If we're going to win with him in our jersey, we're going to have to shake things up. We're going to offer him a 5 year deal. We basically have within that window to put together a team that can win something. By the time that deal is up, this team will be built around Griffin and our ideas and methods, totally different.
we can't draft, develop, draft, develop and hope that we land a kawhi leonard etc. etc. within this 5 year window.
that's riskier than this trade.

I'm not gonna deny a fans resist to change, i think it's a good thing though, where all big fans of our current players.
I don't like the idea of focusing so much on JUST this trade as well, PP and KG are getting on, we all know that, but what happens if the trade goes through, we have a season where we don't even look like contending? what happens next? we just let them both retire and our roster looks worse than it is now with us wasting a year of CP/Blake etc etc etc.

Another thought.. is the offer of DJ plus our 1st, thats our 25th pick yeah? and that's for KG and Doc?
see if we could pull off a trade of Bled for Granger or Afflalo, or someone along those lines, I think I could come around to KG, but me personally, I don't want Pierce, I think we'd expect him to do to much then wouldn't go ahead with pursuing Granger.
I'm still wondering if Billups is expected to be our starting SG? or are we gonna see someone like Willie in there for half the time when Chauncey is out? I didn't like that, I'd prefer to see Big Shot come off the bench and we find a solid cheap SG.
Lineup of:
CP3
?? (Cheap SG) or what happens to Butler? otherwise Butler at SF and someone like Afflalo at SG
Granger
Blake
KG
even typing that makes me wonder what where gonna do with our team, gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

i don't get how the same fan base that is skeptical of EJ's knees want a 30 year old who just missed an entire year with a knee problem.

I like change, I just think that we should look at ALL the other choices and not put 2 OLD players & a disgruntled Coach in the only basket. Yes, I want DJ to be traded, but at what cost? We need to get stronger & I agree that KG, for the next 2 years will be better than DJ, but what happens if he breaks down or just can't do it anymore?
Pierce, is not what he once was and I look at him to be about the same as Matt Barnes on our team, he is just not worth his salary or Draft Picks for him.
I wouldn't mind having Al Jefferson, he is tough, can shoot & play D & I don't think he will be a Max contract. He may not be the answer, but I don't think we have dug into who is available.

RiversideClips: Al Jefferson & play D don't belong in the same sentence lol. His D is his down fall.
Reading the latest article on this rumour it sounds like we'd be including the contract of Butler or Green and receiving Courtney Lee or Terry. I'd love Courtney Lee.
CP3
Lee
???
Blake
KG
coach Doc Rivers, that looks alright considering we can try to get a solid SF for Bledsoe. Jamal and Barnes still off the bench.
I'm still gonna be sad to see DJ go. And I don't want PP

Did you really say Pierce would be no better than Barnes on the clippers and that you'd think about it if he came for the minimum? This is the guy who played point forward for the Celtics when Rondo went down with averages of 20/7/6 without Rondo. Matt Barnes? That's wicked disrespectful.
Plus if Doc actually does coach the Clips, Pierce (if he ends up in LA) will definitely not be playing a Barnes role. He'll be the 3rd option at worst.

I can't believe that Boston is even getting one 1st rounder from the Clips. Garnett is washed up. And you can get Doc Rivers just by waiting. Let Rivers go back to broadcasting and then sign him next year.
Focus on Dwight, and you can get whoever you want to coach.

Boston has 3 years left on their contract with Rivers so clippers would have to wait 3 years before they'd let go of the non-compete clause

Re: Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
I'm a Celtics fan and it's funny to see how much fans from each side hate the idea of this trade. lol. I think Clippers fans like the idea of DJ for KG (who wouldn't?) but Celtics fans are pretty much unanimous in saying that they hate it. People here don't want to even give up a first rounder but Celtics fans think the first rounder is laughable because it's so low and in a weak draft. It's just funny to see the contrasts between fans.
There's a lot of misinformation in here though. If you guys got Pierce, it wouldn't be at his current large salary like someone said. It would be at a much reduced price. If the trade happens, the Clippers essentially traded for a new coach who CP3 likes, KG who might even give you two years instead of just one and Pierce who put up very good numbers last year considering his age and how he had to be the focal point when Rondo went down. He really stepped up when that happened and he's not done yet. He has two years left in him if he wants to play that long. Adding those guys make LA instant title contenders. I'll be rooting for you guys if the trade goes through.
It's such an interesting position for both teams though. If the Clippers don't do it, where does that leave them with CP3 and trying to get more talent around him? This seems like the easiest way to add championship caliber talent, not to mention a coach who is better than the others that are available. I guess they would bank on being able to move Bledsoe for a nice haul. And for the Celtics, do they risk playing out the year with KG and Pierce one more time and basically telling Doc to go into broadcasting? I think something is bound to happen. Both teams almost need it to happen at this point. But like the trade rumors so far, I think fans from both sides will be mostly unhappy with whatever the official deal is.

Re: Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
As a Celtic fan I can honestly say it looks like the Clippers are getting the best of this trade if the rumors are true. It doesn't mean I'm opposed to it if the Clippers include 2 first rounders but that I believe KG still has a couple of very good seasons left in him. He is 7ft tall and he can really shoot. Those 2 things make his game decline at a slower rate.
I'd be rooting for the Clippers as well next year but to be honest I think KG/PP would be better off on Golden State since they are a deeper team who already gave SA a run for its money despite having some players hurt. I was hoping they were traded their instead or Chicago to rejoin their former assistant coach even though I'm not a fan of the Bulls. Nevertheless, a part of me would love for the Clippers to be take the media spotlight from the Lakers for a few years.
I wish DJ could be routed to a 3rd team since on a rebuilding/tanking Celtic team I just see him having very little value at all in the post season at least. His offensive game(mostly dunks) is the sort I think that disappears in the playoffs as defenses tighten up.
As for Rivers very good coach at the level of a Phil Jackson IMHO but I don't believe Jackson is a great coach like a Popovich.
To me a great coach wouldn't allow Kobe or Rondo to get away with some bad basketball at times. Nevertheless, Rivers has almost always pushed the right buttons in the post season and has the team playing smart basketball by that time. And like a younger Phil Jackson he is worthy of a first round pick on reputation alone since he should be able to recruit some players.
The way how I honestly figure it a fair trade would be perhaps this years pick and 2 lottery protected first round picks and an expiring contract of dead weight like a Biedrins type of player for KG and Rivers. The lottery protected picks become only 1 lottery protected pick if KG isn't available for the playoffs this year or if he retires after this season which I doubt happens...I expect 2 more years of KG before he retires. And the last pick becomes completely unprotected if the Clippers win the nba championship. I really don't want DJ but if the Celtics get him hopefully he ends up better then I expect.
KG is still a major difference maker who I would expect to be the Clippers 2nd best player next post season on a per minute basis. PP I think can be a good to very good player again in the post season as a third option on offense but he is done as a number 1 or 2 option on offense and his defense is just ok. Can't expect him to guard the elite wings on the perimeter but still strong enough to rebound. Should be a steal at the MLE or anything lower then that.
The success of the Clippers would be based upon players staying healthy and the players 7-10. Clipper fans are woefully mistaken if they think KG is done. As long as injuries don't hinder him, he will perform very well in the playoffs and be a huge upgrade on D IMHO. He also is a very good fit with BK.
I want KG gone since he is so good that it makes it hard for the Celtics to tank for Andrew Wiggins and he does deserve a shot at another championship.
As someone rooting for the Clippers I'd just be worried about injuries and the bench. I don't even think Howard is necessary if BK performs well on offense in the post season.

Re: Doc & the KG Drama, Part (I don't give a ----)
If we only give up Jordan and a pick, or even 2 picks, it's a steal for us. We were talking on this forum a few months ago about moving Jordan for any similar center with a lower slary like Channing Frye etc. Getting Garnett instead of that, and packaged with Pierce and Rivers nonetheless, would be a massive upgrade. Plus, Garnett is like the perfect dream fit for this team, he offers exactly the skillset we need the most and would be a great mentor for Blake.
We had the best bench in the league last year with Bledsoe/Crawford/Barnes/Odom/Hollins and so far we'd be able to keep all of it, and even have Butler to add to that, or trade away.
On top of that, the most underrated part of this trade is it'd motivate Sterling into pony up a lot of cash for a good coach and to get into the luxury tax. If this convinces him to commit to win at all costs, let's do it!
On the other hand, I like Pierce and Rivers but have always despised Garnett, and (if it eventually goes down) it'll be hard for me to get used to root for the guys who used to be the Boston Celtics core.

just realized a side benefit to this deal.
refereeing.
refs who once would not give us the benefit of the doubt because we were whiney and floppy now have to respect a guy like Doc, KG or Paul Pierce
would not happen with dwight.
let's get this done ASAP

I think Quake is right w/ his quote below, sorry for the horrible editing
refereeing.

I still feel like Pierce will break down, I think he is one of those guys like Antoine Walker/ Penny Hardaway who's skills will diminish quickly. I think last year put a lot of stress on his body, which he doesn't do a great job in taking care of can't handle it at this stage of his career.
I disagree that Doc is a great Coach, he has always had HIGH profile players McBaby w/ Orlando & the Celts and he has gone to 2 finals & lost one. Ask Rondo or Big Baby Davis if they think he is a great coach, Doc picked on those two for no reason half the time and they are both good players who work hard.
