I think the team with two young potential star front court players and the most abysmal perimeter play in the entire league should be trying to get something, anything to help them at spots 1, 2, or 3.

If Joe D decides he can resign Calderon and the following go in the top 7: Noels, Oladipo, Porter, Bennett, Burke, Muhammed and McCollum are all gone it is very possible. Carter-Williams/Knight back court sounds awful. Len isn't a fit with Drummond and Monroe on the roster so I could very well see it.

Yes I would. McCollum fits a need. He possess outside shooting and has a higher basketball IQ. I think he is getting overlooked alot like Lillard did last year. He has a proven track record. I feel the assist to turnover ratio isn't great but he can fill multiple needs the Pistons have right now. I also feel he can be a potential veteran leader this team despirately needs. I think he is a no brainer if the other 6 I mentioned are off the board.

Id prefer neither but between McCollum and Zeller, I'd rather have Zeller.

I like the idea of a solid 3 man rotation at the 4 and 5 spot

McCollum is probably the best shooter in the draft. I'd certainly draft him.

That being said, I'm sold on Zeller, and that is after I've spent this last year hating him (being a Wolverine), and happily watching his over-rated ass keep dropping in the mocks. But once he was being sold as a stretch 4 rather than a weak center, he looks like a star. He's very athletic, has a great shot, plays smart, hustles. He'd be great as a backup 4 for us, but we are in dire need for wing shooters. If we get the Dallas pick, maybe pick McCollum AND Zeller :-)

Definitely do not want Zeller. I don't think his super high foul drawing rate (about 7 per 40 minutes) will translate to the NBA where he'll be matched up against bigger and faster competition. He seemed to struggle against longer athletic defenders, like with Syracuse, where I thought he was really exposed. Now that may have been an aberation, since he was able to jump out of the building at the draft combine, hard to tell. But he seemed to have a bubble around him where he'd draw fouls with little contact, and was rarely called for fouls, but once outside of big ten and their refs, that seemed to change.

Hopefully I don't sound like too much of a hater there, cause I do think he'll be a soild pro, but I think his ceiling with us is just a bench player. There's a lot of uncertainty in this draft, but at our spot I'd like to get a guy like Burke, MCW, McCollum or Bazz (obviously would take someone like Mclemore if they fall) who has a chance to start with Moose and Dre for years to come.

Signing a big man like Zeller will cost $10 mill a year. So I wont be surprised if we drafted him, who else will be our back-up? Also he can shoot and can create spacing whether he plays with Monroe or Drummond. So He does fulfill a big need on this team, and he would be a steal imo, remember when Noah got drafted 9th and Brewer got picked ahead of him? That's what I feel about Olidipo and Zeller.

Detroit has a needs across the board. You can make a logical case for drafting at any position. Zeller would be a great back-up big, and would save Detroit a lot of money from paying a lot on a free agent big this summer.

Don't mind Zeller at all.

I could also see us use some cap to get Marion and the 13 pick. Then you could still get a McCollum, KCP or Bazz and your backup big. I could see someone at the wing spot with a decent shot falling into that 13 range.

By picking up Zeller and Marion you have filled 2 spots. Hopefully your pick can be the third, but if not you still have reasonable cap space to fill that second wing starter.

All that said, I guess I am for it.

Drafting Zeller is a legit option if teams that need bigs are willing to trade a young (proven) wing.

Marion would not play for us. Both because his talent is gone & because he refuses to play for a non contender.
