What's that when KG and Doc retires and Pierce gets waived? I don't understand how people can be ok with Danny getting NOTHING for two pieces instead of whatever he can get. A first round draft pick is better than nothing, at the end of the day.

Getting NOTHING is absolutely better than having to pay Deandre Jordan $13 million/yr to whine/sulk on the bench after Rondo yells at him for being a child. Don't want to put up with that guy for a measly late 1st round pick. He's a cancer, and his skills aren't high enough to justify having to put up with his crap. If we're going to take a on headcase, it's gotta be for a guy like Cousins, who can actually play.

A bad contract and a future late pick...what are we really losing? I'd rather get the cap relief provided by KG retiring and Pierce being waived. Hell, we might even be able to tank while bringing back Pierce/KG....the best of both worlds. No need to deal unless it provides meaningful help.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts, although I don't think Pierce/KG will be back.

Baxter Holmes @BaxterHolmes
Danny Ainge confirms to the @BostonGlobe that the proposed Clippers-Celtics deal is, in fact, dead.

annnnddddd this is why you're the clippers

Lol with this "clippers doomed" stuff. But maybe you're right. My guess is you're wrong and Chris will re-sign. I suppose we'll see. Out of curiosity what do you think your team will do with KG and Rivers now?

Haha, nah man, I could def be wrong. CP3 could re-sign for all I know. I'd just assume a Clip fan like yourself must be pissed that you couldve had Doc/KG/PP for DJ and a cpl dumpy picks. Bledsoe I understand, but those picks wont even be good.

Not sure what will happen with KG. Since there's no way Doc can come back I'd say KG will most likely retire. I hope he doesn't come back to give us some useless wins. I wanna get the rebuild underway.

lose lose situation, Celtics get nothing from KG and Doc, Clippers' chance to resign CP3 just got a lot lower...maybe they can make use of that lottery pick when CP3 signs elsewhere.

I fully expect Doc to walk away and KG retire.

Word!

The big question now is whether Ainge still intends to blow it up or whether he looks to make some moves to retool/reload.

I still think this team can compete with a few tweaks.

Doc's not gonna retire. How long can Doc realistically withstand direct exposure to Mike Breen's smarminess? He may spend a year in the booth but next season some other contender will come knocking with an equally crappy first rounder (in a superior draft) in hand. The only "big loss" will be DeAndre Jordan's $13 mill a season... I can live with that.

Meanwhile the Clippers have to figure out how to convince CP3 that Brian Shaw and Aaron Afflalo are a better fit than Doc/KG/PP/Lee. Good luck with that... all those leaked rumors by LA are gonna come back to bite them in the ass.

You seem to know an awful lot about DeAndre and his future relationship with Rondo.. Seriously, you have no basis in your claims, when has he shown that he's a headcase? First round picks are extremely valuable in the new CBA and Ainge trying to get two for a coach that doesn't want to be here is laughable really. We will never be able to pull off deals with him in charge, he's way too stubborn.

I agree -- why take back something just to take something if its not that good. I'd rather have them ride out KG and PP and use that money wisely when they are off the books than make a dumb and get stuck with it.

the bottom line is we have to get rid of doc now, he's cost the team to much damage at this point. We'll hold him hostage for three years until we get a better deal. I'm sure a lot of teams want Doc.

If we aren't getting two first round picks, it's not worth it. Let's not make a trade just to make a trade.

No trade most likely means:

1. Doc is out of Boston and goes to broadcasting. I'm good with this. I for one didn't want Doc back if Pierce and KG weren't going to be here. Doc takes the broadcasting job and we don't have to pay him.
******$7 million saved.*******
2. KG retirees and we get nothing back. We actually do. Cap space.
*******$10 million saved.*********
3. We trade or buy out Pierce.

As far as for the Clippers, the no trade likely means:

1. They will miss out of Doc, KG and PP and chance to contend for a tittle. That would be ok with them because they aren't about championship titles.
2. They also risk having Chris Paul walk away.

There is a reason why the Clippers have never won a championship ring.

KG at his age was still an all-star last year. The brings so much intangiles with him like intensity, focus, defense, offense, and a winning attitude. DJ, not so much.

Paul Pierce played at all-star levels in the 2nd half of the season. He also brings great offensive ability, passing, rebounding, and a winning attitude.

Ainge is smart for seeking for fair value for a top coach and HOF player. I think Ainge was just doing due diligence in looking into a rebuilding trade. There is still a strong possibility he comes back to Doc and KG and smoothes things over.

Did you not read the article I just posted a few pages back? The one that said that Griffin and Jordan were already tuning out Chris Paul? It's not that much of a jump to think that if Chris Paul couldn't keep him in line, then the chances of Rondo doing it are slim to none.

And if 1st round picks are so valuable, then why the hell has it been so easy to buy late picks the past few years?

This deal was garbage anyway. Deandre Jordan and a late 1st???? Why do people think Jordan is any good? He is terrible. I'd rather have Doc go to the broadcast booth and KG retire myself. Deandre Jordan is a rich man's Mark Blount. Horrible.
