The fact that Ainge isn't doing this is a friggin joke. It is all about Danny's ego right now. He thinks Garnett and Doc have value and he wants to be compensated for it. He is ignoring what is best for the team. He should be thanking his lucky friggin stars that someone is going to take Doc and Garnett's salary off the books and expedite this team's trip to lottery land. The years Danny had to give KG and Pierce to keep them were not team friendly. The Clippers are about to erase a huge financial burden and the #1 reason why this team can't rebuild (It's best player, Garnett, who virtually guarantees a playoff birth).
Even if you get absolutely nothing - say, Caron Butler and no picks, Danny should do it. My God who wants to see this same old, boring team back next year? Guys, it's a golden opportunity to get out of NBA purgatory. We are spared 1 more year of a 7th or 8th seed. Give Ainge all of the credit in the world for trying to get Bledsoe, trying to get 2 picks, trying to get cap relief, but look at it from LA's perspective. Bledsoe, picks, and cap space have value. Boston wants to get rid of their players anyways. Why give up value?
It is a perfect situation for both teams. Even if you get NO ASSETS, even if you simply take back nothing bad and are able to move Garnett/Pierce/Doc, you do it. It's simple. We're not going anywhere and we need to get out of the luxury tax and into the lottery for a year or two. Sorry, that's reality. One more year of 8th seed basketball with a bunch of 35+ year olds makes me want to puke. Anyone who is for that is kidding themselves or not seeing the big picture. Factor in that it's a good team and a good location for KG to finish his career and not only does it help the Celtics, it is a classy send off for our best player since Larry Bird.
