Lucas Nogueira?

Post#1 » by GreenMachine » Sat Jun 1, 2013 3:44 am

What's the deal with this guy?

NBAdraft.net has him at #19 (they had him at #16 a few days ago) but DraftExpress doesn't even have him getting drafted. Any insight?

Draftexpress has him too, don't know a ton about him, they have the spurs with him at 28:

Don't know a ton about him, just he's a 7 footer, from what I saw he's in a spanish league but doesn't play a ton of minutes, but is reasonably skilled, decent defensively, and awesome hair. Could be a flyer in the late first/early second.

Looks like the Larkin to Noel's Burke. Elite athleticism and length, but also skinny and raw offensively outside of putbacks.

Plays backup center minutes in the ACB in Spain. Plays like Chandler type offense of nothing but cuts for open dunks, pick and roll, alley ops and put backs. But Nogueira is starting to improve quickly now, while he is still raw he's getting better and better playing minutes in a very good league. I really like Nogueira, who you'll see called Bebe quite a bit as well because he is finally starting to understand what it takes to be a professional basketball player.

He would be a great late 1st Euro stash who you leave to get gradually more minutes with Estudiantes over the next few seasons to develop his game rather than sit on the end of the bench in the NBA. He could be very good down the road.

I personally want Brooklyn to send out $3m cash or even Brooks in a deal to get Nogueira late in the 1st to stash.

He needs to get over to the US and get on a legit S&C program. I think he is way too raw to go in the first round. He's being overhyped.

I see him mid-to-late 1st. He's been touted as an international prospect for the past couple years. First there were questions about his attitude and desire - apparently those have been dispelled. He's a year or two away from making the move so the Mavericks could look at him, the Hawks or another team that doesn't need an immediate contributor or wants to stash someone to avoid the cap hold.

Nogeueria has potential.

It's always hard to slot Euro and college together. But right now my center list goes:

1. Noel
2. Adams
3. Gobert
4. Len
5. Nogeueria

Apparently he was the most impressive player at eurocamp. He is fairly athletic for a 7 footer, runs the floor like a gazelle, and has a definite smoothness to his game which projects he can expand his offense someday. Posted a 23 PER in the ACB play (with limited time).

He's very close to what Larry Sanders was as a prospect. The question of course does he have the same toughness to endure 260-270 behemoths pushing him every game and will he put on a lot of weight. Now Sanders is listed at 235 so weight might not be that much pressing concern, but the more the better.

Late 1st round/early 2nd round pick at best. He's too far behind similar guys in the draft in terms of player development, great shotblocker but too raw in every other aspect. I'd wager that a team like the Spurs would pass up on him if he'll be available to them and they love internationals.
