totally disagree. i think its still 50/50. Harden isn't the player he is today if he's on OKC getting fewer minutes and a lot fewer touches.

Harden is and was fking awesome regardless of the number of minutes or touches he is and was getting. That was an absolutely horrible deal by the OKC management.

??? Harden was actually less efficient on the rockets than on OKC, and his advanced stats fell off a bit (especially efg and true shooting percentages). He was great on the thunder, he just got more of a chance on HOU to show the casual fan-- who pays more attention to points per game than PER--what he was already doing.

He's not an all-NBA candidate if he's still on OKC, but he's still the same awesome player. Do you really think it's 50/50 that J Lamb and #12 turn out better than harden?

looking back yes, at the time, it was a amazing deal. PJII still had hype, Lamb was still thought as a top 5 talent, and Tor was suppose to be worst. Keeping Harden doesn't guarantee OKC a championship.

^ You are right about that. However, adding 2 rookies and a vet jump shooter didn't improve their chances either. In fact, the trade made them even more weak. Shouldn't you be trying to improve your team as kuch as possible. ...especially when you are that close to winning a championship rather than getting fascinated by all the young prospects out there?

This isn't worth an argument since it's way off topic, but to correct a few facts:
--Lamb had just been drafted #12. Some fans might have thought highly of him, but his value at the time was that of a twelfth pick in a so-so draft.
--OKC got PJ3 with their own pick, he wasn't part of the deal. If you're saying that the Thunder assumed he'd be good enough to replace harden... I think you're not giving NBA front offices enough credit. You don't assume a 28th overall pick steps in and posts a 24 PER in pretty big minutes. Fans on real gm do stuff like that, not real GMs.
-- Toronto wasn't an awful team last year. CHA, ORL, PHX, NOH, CLE were all clearly worse teams, no one should have expected that would be a top 5 pick (although I'll grant that 8th-9th overall would have been a reasonable expectation. Could have easily been 15-16th too).

Figured you just made that up being that Drummond & Lamb are good friends. I saw them going back & forth on twitter like 3 days ago.

Oh & Lamb's "generally disparaging" statement on Drummond last year -

“It depends on if he wants to work. He’s a great athlete. He can jump. He can block shots. He can rebound. I always say, it’s funny, we will have an early practice at like 8 AM, and everyone is trying to get warmed up and stuff. He’ll just come out and do a windmill to warm up. His bounce is amazing. I believe he’s going to work hard, develop post moves, I think he can be a great pro.”
