20 years ago today, the Phoenix Suns lost the 1993 NBA Finals to the Chicago Bulls. Even though I was only 7 years old at the time, I remember this quite well and all the heartache that it caused me at a young age. Little did I know is that it would prepare me for much more heartache and disappointment for years to come. I always believed the team would make it back one day in the future, and in the past decade there were a few opportunities to make it back. We can all point fingers and reminisce about missed opportunities and bad fortune, but we all have done enough of that in recent years. No need to relive bad memories. This has always been a team rich in winning history until recently.
20 years in the making and we are just embarking on a complete rebuild. What is is going to take to get back to the promised land?
I think the team is headed in the right direction with McDonough. He's young but has the right experience and know-how to get the players we need. Sarver is my only concern. He hasn't really given past GM's a lot of flexibility to work with even when they were missing just a small piece to put them over the top. JJ comes to mind, and so does the Kurt Thomas trade for cap space underneath the Kerr regime. So I am afraid that even though McD puts together a contender, Sarver will still clinch onto his wallet. Hopefully I am wrong, or he will sell the team to someone with deeper pockets ala Mark Cuban. This city deserves an NBA Championship, I just hope we don't have to wait another 20 years before we get another shot at it.

When I was in Chicago a few years ago, I spit on the John Paxson plaque.

Hahaha, I also took a picture of me nut punching the "Air" Jordan statue.

I was at a Phoenix Firebirds game. No one was watching the baseball game. The entire stadium was watching the tv around the stadium monitors showing the Suns game.

We blew so many opportunities back then... 95' was the worst for me.

Me too. That was the one year I thought we clearly had the best team, and blowing that 3-1 lead to the Rockets was brutal. Game 5 OT, Game 7 brutal end.
