How long can the Clippers wait until they have a Coach?

Post#1 » by RiversideClips » Thu Jun 20, 2013 10:35 pm

This is one ballsy move from Clipper Management, I don't totally get what is driving their fixation w/ Doc, but they never asked for my opinion. The longer this Clipper- Celtic drama continues, the more I admirer Management's position. I still don't think Doc is the right coach for this team, so go prove me wrong.
My concern is what happens if we don't get Doc, will Hollins or Shaw still be available & who would be better for our team? I understand that it doesn't help that your leader is a Free Agent & can walk anytime after July 1st and he seems to have a vested interest in the next coach.
Or do most people think the Doc situation will work itself out and he will be the coach next season? Tons of questions if we don't get Doc, who is the next target & are we worried that another team may hire him b4 the Clippers are finally at a place to offer the job? I guess the good news is that there are 3 candidates for 2 other (Denver & Memphis) jobs with good teams.

I rather Karl than Hollins... I don't see how Hollins is an upgrade from VDN

I've read that Paul wasn't high on Karl.

Right now, it seems that outside of Doc that Hollins, Shaw and Scott are the next in line. I don't really see Philly getting one of them. Memphis will probably just promote Joerger. So that leaves Denver. Even if Denver takes one, the Clippers still have at least one of their preferred choices available.

I want to see something done sooner than later. The Clippers could wait and still be satisfied if it came down to it, but they have to consider Free Agency. I'm not buying all the Doc or else talk for Paul (even if Doc is his top choice), but it would be an extremely bad move to not have something solidified by the end of the month. Even if you make the right choice, you don't want to give the appearance that you're not being responsible in structuring the direction of this team by continuing to put it off.
