Source: Ainge First Approached Rivers With Clippers Trade Scenario

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jun 21, 2013 3:32 pm

Danny Ainge first approached Doc Rivers to gauge his interest in the Los Angeles Clippers’ coaching vacancy, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Rivers confirmed an interest in the Clippers, and it was then he learned Ainge had already had preliminary discussions with the Clippers on releasing him from his contract and making him available.

“At that point, this became a situation where both Doc and the Celtics were seeing if they could both get something they wanted out of this,” the source said.

Ainge is looking to accelerate the Celtics’ rebuilding efforts, and wants to maximize the return on all of the team’s assets, Rivers included.

Right. Ainge wears the players into the ground, then wants to trade them for premium assets. I don't blame him, but if he wanted to get a maximum return for them, he should have traded them 2 years ago. He waited way too long.

Ainge should just work on a sign and trade with the Lakers and deal Rondo and a pick for DHoward, and CP3. Then the Celts would have the starting lineup the clippers wanted.
