Kemba Vs Burke

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:48 pm

Existing Player Vs Potential Player.

Based on what Cho said (we should draft BPA regardless of position) I thought this might be interesting. I'll make several of these over the next week.

Who would you choose to move forward with as a Bobcats player and why?

Woo hoo first to vote. I would take Kemba. I like his speed and quickness over Burke. I want a PG who can break people down. Not saying Burke can't but Kemba will be better at it over their careers in my opinion.

Kemba for me too.

I think he's only scratching the surface of how good he is going to be. I love his speed and his ability to get to the rack and his swag is a whole lot of cool too.

I don't think Burke's absolute ceiling is much better (if any) than where Kemba is currently at. I really think Kemba has the talent and mentality to have a similar impact on the game as Tony Parker and that says a lot because I was initially very critical of the Kemba pick.

Burke to me screams DJ Augustin with a satchel. A good player, but not a franchise piece. Great shooter and a solid passer, but not quite dynamic enough for my taste

I went with Burke. I like Kemba's character, handling, and speed (although he does play out of control at times) but Burke seem like he would play the Point better. He has better court vision and get this team involved more, through pick n roll etc, compare to Kemba. If we had a SG or SF who can handle the ball and distribute, I may go with Kemba. It's a marginal edge though.

imo the league is trending toward guys like Kemba being more valuable. PGs "running" teams going for 10-12 apg is going out of style fast. League nowadays is everyone on the floor being smart and knowing the right passes to get roleplayers open shots. I'm really hoping Cliff gets our guys on that level of understanding and chemistry that teams of Thib, Pops, Vogel have. If so, they won't need a "pass first" pg babying them and Kembas ability to break down defenders, split doubles, and overall "bail out" guy on offense will be immensely valuable at creating shots for others even if he isn't always credited with the box score assist, like Swedd says sort of like Tony Parker.

He's already Tony Parkers level when he plays at home...if he figures out what the hell causes his night and day play on the road we will have a legitimate all star

This. So much this.

Anyone either blind or moronic enough to not see that Kemba is playing at very high level and still steadily improving, needs to be backhanded 5-7 times minimum.

If the question was kemba vs CP3, Kemba fans would get backhanded. This thread isn't asking if Kemba is bad, it's asking if trey burke is so good that he's even better than Kemba. So you can continue with your hyperbolic babble if you want but it doesn't matter.

I picked Walker, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Burke ends up being better.

Hyperbolic babble? Whatever douche. But alright, IF the question was CP3 vs Kemba, it would obviously be CP3- a perennial All-Star and top 5 player in the NBA.

Although, equally ridiculous, that wasn't the question there buddy. The question was Kemba vs. Trey Burke and I think that's ridiculous considering these things.

- Kemba shouldered his team to a NCAA title with a bunch of nobody's. I feel like Burke had more help in Hardaway Jr than Kemba had, but Burke played a harder team in the finals than Kemba.
- I feel that Kemba is better player than Burke mainly because of his speed and durability and he is improving. Burke seems too slow.
- We already have a PG and should not draft another one. We'd turn into a f@#%ing carousel of PG's changing every other year.

Just don't think Burke is that good.
Would take Carter-Williams over him in this draft.

Burke is probably going to end up the best player in this draft, still wouldn't take him over Kemba.

I'm beginning to think that the Charlotte Bobcats fanbase is just obsessed with having a old point guard-new point guard duel to debate about every season. After 9 seasons of it, there's no way some of you can live without it 8-)

The thing about a lot of Horncat fans is we want to desperately get better but once we get a great piece we immediately want to shop it. At some point you guys need to realize we cant just be in a never ending shop of players. We were the only team to give Kemba Walker a chance in the 2010 draft and guess what, hes in the top 5 of the best players in that draft. Hes got a very high ceiling and had already showed all-star potential. I'm so sick of people complaining about his assists per game. Let's be clear, assists are the ONLY stat in the NBA that really is based on how well your team is. If you don't have many great shot creators ie: Horncats, then it makes it very hard to get assists. I have been to 5 games this year and have watched every other game on tv and Kemba Walker is the sole reason we have won most of the games. Yes, Trey Burke will probably be a great PG I'm not denying that, but why why why would we get another PG when our best player is a PG. Also, how is anyone going to say a kid who hasn't played in the NBA yet is better than a guy who has played in the Rising All-Star game and also and most importantly, got invited to try out for the USA team. When has the Horncats ever been able to say we have a player playing on the National team? We all need to stick behind our players and stop writing them off because they didn't turn into Kobe their 2nd year.

I don't know about the Horncats but the Bobcats had Emeka Okafor almost immediately after he was drafted. Either way I totally agree with everything that you posted.
