Is Robin Lopez his ceiling or his floor?

2013 NBAdraft.net profile of Steven Adams

http://www.nbadraft.net/players/steven-adams

Strengths: Bigman with tremendous combination of size, length and athleticism ... Just scratching the surface of his considerable talent ... Extremely fluid. Runs the floor like a deer ... Tremendous rebounder with huge, soft hands and strong arms ... Has a great frame with broad shoulders and already has good amount of strength/weight .... Plays the game with a lot of energy/exuberance. Blue color work ethic/attitude. Has been shielded from the AAU sytem and the pampering and hype that he would have received had he been raised in the USA basketball system ... Tremendous motor and shows a willingness to compete and be coached ... His upside is considerable and he really hasn't developed any bad habits ... Has been working on correcting his jumpshot in the past year, and it has shown considerable improvement, as it had a hitch in it last year at the 2010 adidas Nations (Chicago) and now appears much more fluid ... His feel for the game is surprising considering the amount of time he's been playing the game at a high level ... His passing is good for a bigman showing excellent touch on outlet passes ... Excellent shot blocker. His length makes it very easy for him to block shots, even when he's slightly out of position ... Huge, soft hands makes him a great rebounder ...

Weaknesses: Has never played basketball against a high level of competition, however he's developed a solid base of fundamentals and holds his own against high level players ... Free throw shooting is still a major weakness to his game. But he recognizes that and is working to become better from the line ... Will need to embrace being a star. He's a humble kid and doesn't seem to be overly comfortable in the spotlight, but he has some time to develop his confidence ... Post skills are a work in progress but he seems to have a solid understanding of what he needs to do in the post ...

Notes: The top International prospect on the immediate NBA horizon and will be the top center prospect in the NCAA in 2012 ... Committed to play for Jamie Dixon at Pittsburgh in 2012-13 ... Will graduate Scots College high school (New Zealand) in November and transfer to Notre Dame Prep in the US and then be eligible to play at Pittsburgh ...

2008 NBAdraft.net profile of Robin Lopez

http://www.nbadraft.net/players/robin-lopez

NBA Comparison: Andris Biedrins/Anderson Varejao
Aran Smith - 9/20/2007

Strengths: More mobile and athletic than his twin brother Brook Really hits the glass hard and hustles for loose balls An excellent shot blocker (led the Pac-Ten as a freshman at 2.4 per game) With his quickness and explosive leaping ability he has a real chance to be a factor as a shot blocker on the next level Foot speed is good allowing him to get to rebounds and run the floor very well Tough, hardnosed player willing to do the dirty work to help his team win Both brothers are extremely long and naturally strong and aggressive

Weaknesses: Unlike his brother who has a smooth offensive game, Robin is offensively challenged Lacks great moves in the post and struggles with his shooting touch Scores mostly on garbage baskets and cheapies around the hoop Must improve from the free throw line where he shot just 55% Feel for the game is questionable especially on the offensive end Not a great passer with vision of the floor When he receives the ball, he still appears to get nervous and turn it into a hot potato Experience and time should allow him to become a better offensive player, although its unlikely he will ever be the scorer that his brother is

Notes: The twins are said to want to leave Stanford at the same time. But based on skill development and playing the same position, it might be in Robins best interest to stay a year longer and get all of the offensive touches his brother receives in the post

More floor then ceiling. You should rely on empty analysis like that, it points out like 3 or 4 generic qualities for it's players.

For example it says Lopez has good foot speed and quickness, when in fact he is very slow and awkward especially running the floor and in PnR. Whereas Adams is quick with it. I don;t know how much Lopez changed in his transition though, since I did not follow his progress.

I would Compare Adams more to an Asik defensive specialist type C, with room to grow his offensive game.

Guys, you can also get a good player using the 10th pick in trade... I wouldn't read too much into this

Interesting what happened in the "Expert's" mock NBA draft on espn insider:

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft201 ... irst-round

Their draft has Alex Len falling to us at #10.. I personally would be ecstatic about this, what about the rest of you?

Oh totally, I am just saying the quote can be BOTH, don't be shocked either way. Honestly I think Neil O. already has a plan for our "COTF", I don't think it will involve our pick.

Yea it;s pretty crazy how tight to the chest they are playing this compared to last year.

All I can say is: Thank Goodness. Last year was very bad in that regard.

Could be Nets? Who else might trade out for a PF?

I wanna get one rebounder, one shot creator and one shooter.

Rebounders: Muscala, Carmichael, Iverson, Mbakwe, Dedmon or Roberson
Shot creators: Green, Jackson, Wolters, Goodwin, Brown, Nedovic, Pressey or Siva,
Shooters: Snell, Murphy, Ennis, Hill, Snaer, Southerland

However, although he doesn't fit any of those categories, I also might like to take a flier and stash Jean-Charles for his physical attributes alone.

I'm just going off his dx scouting video.
Btw it's "you're" not your.

There's lots of things I like about him but more that I don't.

I updated my post to include some names.

Don't really see McCallum as a shot creator though. Maybe he will do better at that in a new role in the NBA.

I can see it. With him and Lillard in the back court I don't see how either can be doubled, which is why I've been so high on him. I feel like McCullom is the key to Lillard averaging over 20 a game. Once we acquired maynor Lillard averaged around 22 a game. And I really think McCullum will be a lot better than maynor.

Guess I'm not that high on Ray. (You are talking about Ray McCallum right?)

McCallum: 37.3 min, 18.4 points (FG: 47.7, 2pt: 54.5, 3pt: 31.7), 6.2 FT's (71.5), 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2 steals, 0.6 blocks, 2 turnovers

Maynor: 35.5 min, 22.4 points (FG: 46.3, 2pt: 51.6, 3pt: 36.1), 7.1 FT's (81.5), 3.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.2 blocks, 3 turnovers.

I am not so sure McCallum will be the shot creator that Maynor was, or maybe even the scorer.

No I meant CJ McCullum. I was talking about second rounders earlier so I can see how you might be confused, my bad.
