Would be a great fit for both sides. Hopefully long-term vision prevails when someone offers more $ though.

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
There's only a few reasons why Miami needs Greg Oden.
Roy Hibbert / Zebo / Dwight Howard.
Bosh clearly isn't up for the job. With Greg Oden, even 20 minutes a game vs Roy Hibbert, they beat Indiana.

Oden isn't looking for the minimum. I hate when agents act like we don't know their agenda. What is there to talk about with Pat?
Will you accept the minimum yes or no.
--
The thing about Samuel is that he is running out of options.

When asked whether Miami’s available amount of $3.183 million would be sufficient to sign Oden, Conley said, "We haven’t gone down that road." The market will determine Oden’s value when free agency gets under way.![]()

No surprise, players have been trying to use Miami as leverage for years.
Realistically who can the Heat sign that will improve the roster? Best best is getting an athletic big in the draft but unfortunately this draft is very weak.

Resigning Birdman is a given..but he won't be starting
Its Oden, Dalembert, or bust. I'm not a fan of Dalemberts attitude, particularly crying about no playing time on the Bucks, but if he's willing to come cheap, get into shape, and be about the team he's one of the best options available

re-sign andersen. if we can get oden, get him. cut if he doesn't pan out.
That leaves us with the same line up when he gets injured.
Also the Heat have a better chance signing dalembert then oden. Oden will be looking for way more money cause he knows he is one injury away from being out the league again.
This makes no sense...because of his injury history, people won't offer Oden long term money

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
I would love to get Greg Oden, and it it's not like he would be logging heavy minutes a night he can give you a good 20-25 minutes, just play some D ,grab boards, and contest shots.
He would be a huge asset against the likes of Roy Hibbert,Joakim Noah Tyson Chandler, and Andrew Bynum. Again only for the league minimum though gotta re-sign Birdman first.

Wrong. It doesn't matter if its long term or not. Someone could sign him to a ridiculous two year contract. Other teams "Experiment Money" is different from ours.
For example:
The Wolves signed Brandon Roy last summer to a two-year, $10 million-plus deal after they "won" the free-agent sweepstakes for him.
He also had discussions with such teams as Dallas, Chicago, Golden State and Indiana
Are you going to tell me people wont throw money at a 7 foot center.
I would offer only the minimum

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
That would be amazing!
I really like this dude. If he can stay healthy, he can help the Heat.
Having said that, he looks like Bron's father. Would be nice to see father and son play on the same team!
Imagine a James/Oden-Pick & Roll. That would be unguardable!
Plus, he's an unreal rebounder and shot blocker!
In 2009-10, he averaged 8.5 boards/2.3 blocks in 23.9 minutes.

Dunno how I feel about Oden. He's a very good player when healthy, but I don't know if I want to put all our eggs in the healthy Greg Oden basket. Think Dalembert or Kaman would be safer gambles.

To me the Brandon Roy situation is exactly why teams would only give him the min...if you had to bet on knees, Roy ranked above Oden and look how that turned out.
Anyway, we'll see

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
Yes, definitely. I'd take a chance on him. We don't have great draft picks so even the potential of him panning out is good for us.
If we had the chance to sign either him or Dalembert with our mini-MLE, I'd still take him, assuming he's healthy to start the season.
Bring him in and evaluate him as much as you need to in order to see if he's fully healthy or not, then bring him along slowly. Lock him up on a three-year deal so we can get his bird rights. Worst case scenario he never plays, best case scenario we find a good long-term center. At the very least, I feel he'll be able to a decent backup C.

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
There's no harm in signing the guy and seeing if he can get it together for a playoff run. He's not worth more than the minimum. The agent is right that the market will set his value, but it's silly to even hear that with a guy who's an injury waiting to happen. He could stay healthy. Maybe.
I think it would be in our best interests to see if we could acquire a late first round pick for Jeff Withey if he's available. Contributes in a lot of ways, especially defense. Recent workouts show that he can hit a 15 footer consistently. Sounds like a guy you'd like to groom into a role.

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
If we get a healthy Oden....
Not 1 Not 2 Not 3 Not 4 Not 5.....
When it comes to injures I just hope that it is the type of injuries where he only misses days to weeks instead of whole years.

Re: Greg Oden to Miami?
If we can take a flyer on Eddy Curry then I don't see the harm in Greg Oden depending on the price.
Super Eagles GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
