You then say he doesn't draw fouls? He drew the same as Oladipo per game (slight more actually, 3.7 v. 3.6) but made more due to his superior FT% (3.2 v. 2.7). Then there is the undefinable "motor" thing. Hard to dispute what is not definable. Yeah... he's got more MOTOR. Alright, I'll take your word for it?

Ben was a hyped freshman versus Oladipo, a guy who nobody talked about till his JUNIOR season. It's hard to compare the two accurately.

Well you're wrong about his man defense since McLemore was notorious for giving up penetration and for not being in his stance, his closeouts were also hilariously bad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MHaCrtbL_zg#t=730s). PLus McLemore's FT per FGA, FT per 40 and FT per possession all round out the bottom of this year's shooting guard crop. Oladipo ranks higher than him in all of those categories inspite of having a lower usage %.

I'm not wrong about that article, it was posted a few days ago, but I'm not going to skim through this thread finding it. This is one reason the spec threads drive me nuts, hard to ever easily find anything. If anyone has that and could post it, that'd be awesome. I will post this comparison done a few weeks ago.

http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2013/ ... erspective

"Although Ben McLemore's defensive skills don't quite match up to Oladipo's he proved to be an effective defender during his freshman year at Kansas. Like Oladipo, he is also a good shot-blocker for the shooting guard position and is a good on-ball defender (though not quite as great as Victor). However, he was not nearly as consistent on the defensive end as Oladipo was and had a tendency to get lost during possessions where he was defending off the ball. Even with his occasional lapses, McLemore posted a great defensive rating of 93.3 and with some more consistency and a higher motor on that end of the floor, he projects to be a good NBA defender due to his size, length, and athleticism."

Basically it's saying he's a good defender who has lapses. Sounds like most freshmen defenders ever. You learn consistency. Oladipo had 3 years in the system and Ben had 1. Also, you bring up a point, usage rates don't often skyrocket in the NBA. The fact that Victor's usage rates were so bad, despite being considered Indiana's best player (or tie with Cody) makes you question if he could ever be a focal point on offense.

Got this from Hoop Rumors

The Timberwolves reportedly believe Derrick Williams and the No. 9 pick could allow them to land a top-three selection next week. However, Wolves exec Flip Saunders told Dan Barreiro of KFAN radio that he doesn't think such a package, plus the No. 26 pick, could pry the No. 2 pick from the Magic, as Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune notes via Twitter.

On another note i don't care what the numbers say Mclemore is not a good defender maybe i haven't seen enough games but in the 5 or 6 that i've watched to my eye test he's quite lethargic on that end of the floor but he has potential there imo, he's going to have to shore up some things. Constantly losing his man cause he wants to roam around, slow on close outs, too many blow bys for someone with his athletic capabilities. He has a TON to work on on defense but he's young and maybe he can improve on that end unless the rumor about him having a questionable work ethic is true

Minny is going to have to do more than that to get the 1,2 or 3. No one values Williams that high.

Other rumors of the day:

Magic have worked out Vander Blue, slated possibly as a late 1st rounder, or a 2nd rounder, or undrafted

Pelicans GM traveled to visit Oladipo.

So Len at #1 is a big deal. We then have access to everyone we could possibly want to draft. He's like the only guy in the top 10 we couldn't use. I don't read it as Noel having a problem, just that they need to make the playoffs this year, and Noel may not be ready till December and even then, is a development project. I'm excited to see what Henny does.

I don't think you can lose either way if you pick Dipo, if you draft him and keep him you'll be getting a good prospect but if you want to dish him they are definitely takers, half the league's GM's want him apparently. While i'm sure teams would want Mclemore as well, i haven't heard anything saying that loads of teams would trade up to get him. I won't lose either way since Mclemore is on my top 5 prospects for us to draft

Report: Doc Rivers tried to fight Rajon Rondo after Celtics point guard swore at him

A source close to the Celtics tells Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com that Rondo droopped an F-bomb on Rivers in the locker room during a team meeting, and Rivers went after Rondo and tried to fight him before the fracas was broken up.

To add, if Len goes #1, GM Hennigan has a whole bunch more poker chips in a Trade-down scenario. McLemore AND Noel both are available targets to all teams. And if the Magic want Burke, 3-7 all seem plausible as trade-down target picks. I cannot imagine GM Hennigan being happier than Len going #1.

Heck: the Magic could trade to #5 and potential get McLemore or Noel; that's how good this is for Orlando.

I'd be trying to do a bait and switch with Phoenix if I was Henny, baiting the Suns into taking whoever I didn't want. I think if Henny wants to keep Afflalo we'll draft Oladipo and have him 6th man us, if he's moving Afflalo, McLemore. Not based off Bledsoe, but I think those roles fit those guys better in year 1. I think OIadipo might be more ready, but Ben would benefit more from a ton of minutes and a big role.

I'm bored, so I have a dumb little idea, what if we got 30 people to pick a team and did a little simulated draft of sorts?

Sounds good, I'm in. Also, everyone still got time to predict the entire first round in the draft prediction competition thread and show everyone how smart (lucky) you are  http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1255096
