Hendo Vs Oladipo
Existing Player Vs Potential Player.
Based on what Cho said (we should draft BPA regardless of position) I thought this might be interesting. I'll make several of these over the next week.
Who would you choose to move forward with as a Bobcats player and why?

I have to go with 'Dipo. I just think he has super star potential.

Re: Hendo Vs Oladipo
Hendo is way more skilled, though I'm not a fan of his game. I'm ready to move away from the inefficient iso mid range shot game which is Hendos bread and butter. So I'll take Oladipo. it doesnt hurt that it would be 4 more years of rookie contract while Hendo likely gets overpaid

Give me Hendo. I'm not convinced Oladipo is going to be any better. I'm not going to stop any of you guys from thinking Dipo is going to become the next Dwyane Wade, but if that was the case, he'd be the runaway #1 pick.

to be fair, Dwyane Wade wasn't expected to be what he became when he was drafted either

Oladipo.

I had to go with Oladipo. I believe he has the chance to be the next Brandon Roy minus the knee problems and the Dwyane Wade comparisons only bolster my belief.

'Dipo. He displayed more leadership and killer instinct this year at Indiana than Hendo ever has. Was easily the best player on a good IU team despite the preseason consensus #1 draft pick Zeller being there.

i dunno about the killer instinct part. hendo is pretty clutch. i mean we havent been in that important moments since he's been a big time player for us but he's far from a choker

Re: Hendo Vs Oladipo
Dipo does what Hendo does only better. He can play tough and strong and has the highest motor of anyone in this draft. He is most likely to hit his peak because nobody will out work him in this draft. I think the next Brandon Roy is a very reasonable target and the next Wade is a possibility.

Why? It is all about what he could become. People keep comparing McLemore to Ray Allen when he can't dribble half as well and has no killer instinct. People keep comparing Bennett to Johnson when he does not have one tenth the motor. Nobody worked harder than LJ when he was healthy and Bennett still gets those comps even though he is said to be lazy on D. It is about what people believe these guys can become, IMO Oladipo has a better shot of being Wade than the other two have of hitting their marks.

Re: Hendo Vs Oladipo
Oladipo will be capable of running some PG in the NBA. Maybe not in his rookie year but eventually he will. He has a decent handle for a player his size and he's only getting better at it. I still want to see an improved court vision from him though, not to say that he doesn't have it but I haven't really seen it.

Because Ray Allen and Ben McLemore at least have comparable top strengths. Oladipo is not really comparable to Wade or Roy at all. He is a defensive specialist that is not a particularly good slasher like Wades main strength, not even really comparable to Roy at all...

Oladipo is comparable way more than McLemore is. Only one thing from McLemore compares to Allen and that is shot form. The rest of his game is not even in the ball park. Oladipo shares defense, drive, and work ethic. He also share the ability to score in multiple ways. If he improves his ball handling everything else is there already.

For me Oladipo is a shorter Jared Dudley or Shane Battier.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

you're wrong. its okay to love Oladipo but you're deluding yourself into thinking he's something he's not. You can harp on intangibles all you want but Oladipo simply does not have the tangible skills to be even a poor mans version of those players because his style isn't even similar. Theres no actual reason to believe Oladipo can randomly become an elite slasher or point guard any more than McLemore. You say Oladipo has proven great work ethic because he became a much better player over 3 years of college but you don't give fair due to McLemore who was a freakin power forward until late in high school and converted his game to become an elite college SG in a short time. You are displaying heavy bias in how you judge these 2 players

My point was he is as close to Wade as McLemore is to Allen. That is true no matter what. Both have a long way to go to get where they want to be but Oladipo has more skills to translate into the NBA as a full player now. He can dribble it is not great but it is serviceable and he did run his team for some spots during the year. Your bias toward McLemore is fine I don't care wether you love him or not but he hasn't shown the same hard work the Oladipo has yet. I am going of what has been seen and what we know from the stats. In this case Oladipo is ay further along than McLemore. Oladipo has better numbers as a junior that Roy did and the progression to this point has been very similar.

I think you are significantly undervaluing 'Dipo's athletic ability.

I'm not biased at all. I don't even want us to draft McLemore over Oladipo. But that doesn't mean I will blindly agree with the way you're looking at them if you're using non logical justifications. Comparing Oladipo to Wade and Roy when his ballhandling is average and he has no passing talent is like comparing Bennett to LeBron. It doesn't make any sense
