The Green Room

Post#1 » by princeofpalace » Sun Jun 23, 2013 2:38 am

Here are the prospects who have been invited to the Green Room. The NBA picks guys they think are most likely go in the lottery (GM's are surveyed) although there is usually atleast 1 guy who falls. This draft its;

Nerlens Noel
Victor Oladipo
Otto Porter
Alex Len
Anthony Bennett
Ben McLemore
Trey Burke
Michael Carter-Williams
C.J. McCollum
Cody Zeller

Guys who could be included later on: KCP, Karasev, Mohammed, Adams, Olynk, Antetokounmpo,

This is yet another hint IMO- that Shabazz isn't viewed as a top pick from general managers. Of the ten guys already invited- I think Zeller waits the longest.

Wow it's shocking the hate Shabazz is getting, especially because the reports we've been getting say he had some great workouts.

If I recall correctly Hotel Vitale posted advanced stats that make Bazz look terrible.

Cleveland, Orlando, Washington, Charlotte, Phoenix, Pelicans, Kings....

how many of those franchises have a GM or assistant GM that is really into advanced stats?

Orlando.... Charlotte.... Phoenix... those are the obvious 3 I know of. Not sure about the others.

Bazz has some red flags... but the real drama for him might be that the advanced stats can't be answered in an interview - they are what they are!

Other prospects have red flags too... but the advanced stats don't hurt them. In some cases they probably help the kid look "better"

Shamu and KCP should get tables as well. No way they both aren't lottery picks.

Shabazz was brought in for a 2nd workout w/ the Kings, he's supposed to be working out with us on Monday and Minn is supposedly picking him or KCP so I don't get how GM's aren't high on him when these 3 teams are obviously considering him.

MN actually isn't seriously considering Shabazz. They want KCP, Zeller, or to trade for Oladipo/Mclemore.

The Kings are also bringing CJM in for a 2nd workout so obviously Shabazz isnt their guy either. And for the workout, Shabazz is just interviewing at this point due to ankle injury. The Kings just got a new GM, who wasnt present during their earlier workouts and are bringing guys back in. Shabazz is looking like a 11-15 pick, if not later and rightfully so. I don't care where he gets drafted, but I doubt its here.

I can see the Cavs making a push for Bazz if they trade the #19 for #13 and Marion

Irving
McLemore / Waiters
Marion / Bazz
Thompson
Varejao

I'm with you. Many people feel Shabazz is going to be looked at as a top 5 talent in hindsight of this draft. KCP is in that discussion as well. c-dot, we've discussed ad nauseum in the Pistons forum.

If a talent like Shabazz drops to 13 in this crappy of a draft, the Pistons, Blazers, Bobcats, Suns & Wolves of the world deserve to live in the lottery.

Why would the Cavs take McLemore when they reached to get Waiters 12 months ago??

Makes less than no sense even for the Cavs who generally make no sense.

The Pistons, Bobcats and Wolves DO live in the Lottery!

Blazers have been a fustercluck for a while too and the Suns change their GMs as often as a woman changes her mind!

I believe IF Bazz falls that far he will destroy teams! He will make it his life's work to prove that whatever BS red flags teams had against him were wrong! He would take it personally... and he would end up being one of those "how did everyone not see it?" type of kids

I can already imagine him making a list... "All The Teams That Passed on Me".... and then during the season he would dominate them....and after a game where he scores 30 points some reporter will ask him why he abused some poor defender all night long and he'll just reply "they didn't want me!"

All the red flags about Bazz are not related to his actual skills. His shooting, his post game, his killer mentality... it's all there. People talk about character issues or some rubbish - you don't pay him to be a choir boy - you pay him to score the ball! And he can do that... and does it very well!

Time will tell but I do believe if he falls teams will regret it in a major way.

Totally agree Pharoh..

Like i've said this whole time, Shabazz is a killer. Those type of players are rarer than people think..

Good post Pharaoh. Character concerns come into play when a player is lazy not when he has a top 2 motor in the draft.

I highly doubt character issues are the reason why he's falling so much. You guys said it best, Shabazz really doesn't have any personal issues that are alarming, most of the warning signs are just from his dad. However, if meager fans on a basketball forum can spot that out, you can be certain that GMs that follow prospects as their living can also see it. If there are character concerns, then it's probably behind closed doors where he doesn't perform well in interviews, but I highly doubt that is the case for why he's falling. No, the reason is probably much simpler than that, the reason why he's falling is probably due to the fact that, as said before, he's horrible when it comes to advanced stats. With GMs caring more about how prospects fare statistically, this obviously does not bode well for him.

Of course there are things that aren't advanced stats about Muhammed that also cause you to worry such as his lack of any intensity at all on the defensive end of the floor, his lack of shooting off the dribble, and his hate of passing, but I suppose those are all known quantities.

This

Plus were all speculating that he will drop, I still would be shocked if he made it to us at 8, far too talented.

Im afraid he'll end up on OKC or Boston then have some big outburst in the play offs like Barnes did. At least Barnes only went 7th, if Bazz goes in the teens or lower and then ends up starting for a playoff team, a lot of GMs will get ripped for passing (although that's not really fair to them).

The thing that gets me is the fact that people are acting as if his Freshman year tells the whole story of his basketball career. But a lot of the guys he's getting passed over for weren't even NBA prospects after their freshman year. They forget that he led all true Freshmen in scoring and his team was #1 in its conference... he must have been doing something right.
