Pacers Offseason Outline - Conversation

Post#1 » by ardthomp » Mon Jun 24, 2013 5:03 pm

Had an interesting conversation on Friday night at Dave Matthews concert with someone that will remain nameless, but is pretty high up on the food chain in the organization. Our seats were next to each other at the concert and he started talking to me because of my Pacers hat.

Here is the outline he gave me for what they were wanting to do:
Tyler is gone
David West gets whatever he wants
Paul George is in no way, shape, or form leaving
Danny gets this season to show what he can do - no mention of trade deadline deal

No mention of the draft, but we had a fun conversation about Kawhi Leonard/George Hill.

Told me to keep in touch, gave me his email/phone number, all that good stuff.

That's pretty amazing if that actually happened.

Nothing is really shocking though. Kinda what we all thought.

Right, I agree, but it was nice to hear certain things confirmed!

Of course, as in all things, I am sure this is all "subject to change" at the drop of a hat.

While he didnt give you any break through information, that is some awesome stuff that he actually chatted with you in-detail about the team.

No surprise there that Hans is gone. If only Bird wouldve taken Ty Lawson instead they may have won it all this year. As a fan I appreciated Tyler's hustle; but the team could use an upgrade at his position; Maybe Pendergraph steps up; I know it may be wishful thinking but my expectations is for Plumlee to win that backup 4 role and give the bench a formidable front court defensively off the bench with two athletic 7 footers. Plumlee and Mahinmi have the kind of length/athleticism to adjust or block everything coming their way. Which would give Vogel added lineup flexibility. Plumlee is much more athletic and is capable of knocking down the medium range jumpers like Tyler.

okay, but while I don't see a podcast online, there was a guest on JMV Friday talking about how he was going to the concert with his brother and that he'd been to over 40 of them.

If Bird takes Ty Lawson, we probably aren't in the position to take Paul George. Butterfly effect and all.

It is pretty crazy to think we could've had Lawson. I can't even imagine that. That would've been a ridiculous lineup assuming we get Paul George and all.

Lawson/George/Granger/West/Hibbert. Makes my mouth water.

With Kawai and Stephenson leading the 2nd unit. Now it's making my eyes water.

Not to get ridiculously off topic, but you should also add Kawhi Leonard into your scenario, too.
