Nets and Wolves involved in trade talks for Marshon

Post#1 » by Paradise » Mon Jun 24, 2013 8:44 pm

The Nets have been involved in discussions of a trade that would send MarShon Brooks to the Timberwolves, multiple sources told the Daily News.

Minnesota has shown interest in the third-year guard out of Providence, calling around the league for feedback and initiating trade discussions. Talks have not escalated to anything serious or imminent at the moment, according to a source. However, another source said that a proposal is on the table waiting for the Timberwolves' approval.

Most likely means we would get back JJ Barea or Luke Ridnour.

We better be getting their pick back if we take back JJ or Ridnour and I really hope it's Ridnour.

Would be awesome if this involved something like MarShon, Tele, Evans, vet min, 22nd for Derrick Williams and Ridnour though.

Or maybe this will escalate into Lopez and Brooks for Love...

We in the Wolves world think it's Barea for Brooks and Tele...works out numbers wise, Kidd gets his savy vet PG that he knows well. Wolves do it because they get a SG who can create his own shot...and salary wise it's a wash, Tele and Barea are locked in for another two years.

I would much, much rather keep Teletovic than get Barea, even if they were being traded straight up. I know the Teletovic's stats from last season don't back this up, but he's a good talent who was certainly misused and IMO, he has a lot to show. I want to see what he can do under a better coach, and after 1 year of adjustment before we give him up.

Really hope AK is involved somehow. Hump/Brooks for AK and Barea. I'd probably do that.

WOnder if we could snag D-Will? Kidd does want to run.

Really hope it's not just Brooks/Tele for Barea. I'd feel robbed. Tele is going to have a better year this season, I can just feel it.

I think we want to keep Teletovic and see what Kidd can do with him. It's possible we could sign Keith Bogans to a 1 year deal around 4 or 5 million (early bird rights) and possibly move him with Marshon to get back Barea or Ridnour.

Not 100% sure if it's possible but that probably is what they might try to do.

That's a good deal for both parties. As a Wolves fan I would love to get Brooks, even with his subpar 2nd season last year. But he could be a really good scoring punch of the bench and also start if need be at the SG spot depending on what rookie we draft in the 1st round this year.I would also be sad to see JJ leave the Wolves sense I a huge fan of his game i.e he ain't scared to attack the big boys and go at the rim.But he would be a very nice change of pace PG behind Williams that could add a spark to the Nets bench and as you stated has a history with Kidd.

JJ Barea sucks. He's a talented and sneaky fast player, but he's not a real point guard even as a backup, he's a midget and he gets wildly overrated by some solid play here and there especially during Dallas' title run.

He's had numerous small run ins with teammates on court as well, in Minnesota and Dallas, because he starts Michael Jordan freelancing in critical situations when he's on the court with star players.

Yuck.

If this deal has to go down as Minny fans assume, I really hope it's Ridnour and not JJ and I'm not a huge Ridnour fan anymore either, but at least he's a legitimate NBA player and a worthy spot starter if Deron misses his usual range of say 5 to 10 games.

I think AK could possibly be involve just based off the fact that I don't think Flip wants to extend him at any price. The problem is I think Flip would rather use the cap $ he'd save from AK then to flip him to you, you guys don't have a lot of value on your bigger contracts. Humphries does not work....he plays a position we're stacked at, he wouldn't even be a lateral move. Small deals will happen, but I don't think AK will come there via trade.

Still would rather have Barea. Either one is good enough but Barea competes and can get to the line which Ridnour can't and CJ refused to do.

Kidd mentored Barea in Dallas, so I don't ser why he would cause any trouble here.

I pass. I don't want Barrea or Rindour. I'm content with Taylor being out backup PG.

Still have faith Brooks can do something in a 6th man role.

Nets don't like MarShon and according to recent reports are shopping him around and not just to the T-Wolves.

MarShon has no role on this team especially if they bring over Bojans B.

I was hoping we could get a 1st round pick for him but as I stated previously I doubt we can.

Too bad the Nets killed his trade value last season.

I'd be fine with a rotation player for him TBH, just not JJ Barea specifically and not someone like that at the cost of Teletovic.

I don't even love Tele, but there's no question he still has legitimate upside between his misuse, some flashes of brilliance, shooting ability and acclimating to the US, so if he's dealt I'd hope it would be as more then salary filler if the player coming back is as meager as Luke Ridnour and I'd be aggravated if it were for a scrub like Barea.

Nets are throwing MarShon out there in hopes they catch something.

Maybe they will.

AK-47 seems to be the goal, and maybe there is more than one way to skin a Russian Cat, if you know what I mean.

Time for those Russians to play hardball.

That's good to hear tbh, I don't believe that Marshon has a place on this roster. He belongs on a lotto team, not on a playoffs team. He is a ball dominant player who has shown no signs of successfully playing off the ball, and has no catch & shoot skills. On the defensive end, he's a disaster. There is no upside at his age either.

I'm not sure about either Barea or Ridnour. I'd probably prefer Ridnour

BTW, forget about the Lopez/Love deals. It was just announced the Brook had surgery to fix a screw on that right foot :(

Derrick William. Lol. NOW THAT'S a guy who is definitely on the over/under ticking clock.

As for Marshon...for a back up PG...I dont see us getting anything else with it. Certainly not a lottery pick!
