BTW, on a related note, Deron really should get surgery to clean the bone spurs out of his ankles.
I'm just so over him entering every single season with some physical problem and struggling badly as a result. Over/under on how many games he misses because of ankle injuries this season, which could have been avoided if he got surgery and got himself into proper playing shape this summer (the weight he was at in the 2nd half of this season was ideal)?

I know I'm reaching a bit here, but the conspiracy theorist in me feels like, Billy has to reveal anything medical to any team he's discussing Brook Lopez trades with behind closed doors anyway, so he's foreshadowing publicly to soften the blow for Nets fans in case they don't like the deal he agrees to when he trades Brook this offseason.
Brook and a 1st rounder for McGee.

It's pretty ridiculous that he's decided that he's not going to get it when he was talking about how bad they were and his inability to walk up stairs during the season.
If you have bone spurs floating around in your ankles, get it done.
I think he might be scared to go under the knife so he's probably thinking "I can bare the pain again and get more shots if need be."
However, I'm with you (and I've been saying it since the time D-Will said he's not getting surgery) that it's the wrong decision.

I bet Brook was at the hospital asking "WTF?!?! They couldn't have made it from Adamantium?!?!"

That was good Speedy. Now do the voice like a stoned Snuffaluffagus and say,
"Robin...stop tickling me."
Does anyone else think at Christmas he yells at his Mom that if she was going to name his twin Robin he should have been named Batman?

Re: Brook Lopez has another surgery on right foot
You know, I was just thinking... when did Brook have his second foot surgery?
Is it just me, or does everyone else remember it as Brook had the initial surgery after breaking the foot in preseason, he came back too early and rebroke it, but at that point they just shut him down and never reported an actual second surgery?
Am I tripping here?

In all fairness, I would do that. I mean...come on.

Maybe he just wants some off time during the season. In all seriousness, if he at any point has to rest because of his ankles, Kidd needs to smack him.

It's nothing probably. It's a screw not his actual body parts and he played with it bent and didn't notice. Did he look worse? Had his best season. He's fine. Hes more Howard then Bynum.

Nothing major, still a little scary, due back in August...and as we get closer to his return date in Aug. we'll get a better idea what his rehab is and if there is any real setback...hoping this only puts him behind on conditioning...

As always, surgery is surgery. There is no such thing as a "simple" surgery. Things can go wrong. Most athletes would avoid having to go through surgery if they didn't have to.
Just look at Brook. Nothing wrong with the foot, but the screw that was part of the last surgery got bent. Even though he's physically fine, they had to do another one just to fix that.

Brook and D-Will's incidents are completely different though.
During the season, D-Will said that he had bone spurs floating around in his ankles and that he needed to get it cleaned up.
Even if an athlete doesn't like having surgery, the organization is paying them to play at their highest playing level (and I'm pretty sure they pay for the surgery as well).
What I and other posters are really getting at it is the fact that D-Will has no excuses now. BK has amassed a great team (on paper). The last thing we need to see is D-Will wincing during the regular season and talking about the fact that his ankles are still screwed up.
The thing that was kinda weird about D-Will's season is that he didn't really credit the turnaround to the shots in his ankles. While he admitted that he got them, the one thing he has said that made him play better in the 2nd half is that he was tired of listening to people tell him he's bad.
If that's the case, he should be completely fine with his ankles next season unless something completely new comes up, because either he 1) just decided to turn it on because he wanted to prove people wrong 2) his short rest during the ASB fixed all of his ankle problems so no one has to worry about it anymore.
Either way, he has no excuse for long stretches of poor play for his ankles. If it comes up again, everyone will ask why he didn't get the surgery to fix it before it re-occurred again.
