Not so sure it's an amnesty. Amnesties are restricted to the 7 day window starting on July 10, same day FAs can be officially signed.

The only reason I could see why he would opt out is to control which team he plays for next. Under an amnesty, he would be stuck with the team under the cap making the highest bid.

I think he would rather play for a solid playoff team at this stage of his career, one that is very likely well over the cap and can't make an amnesty bid.

He would be insane to opt out. He's always been on record of saying he would only opt out if LA and his agent came to terms on a new deal that benefited both sides though.
