NBA Draft (Poll): Go Risk or Go Safe? (2013)

Way I see it, if something goes wrong, at least that leaves room for the Wizards to take somebody in the loaded draft of next season.

But a decent pick can really help push the Wizards for a playoff run, not saying thats something they should do in their current form, but if thats the goal, than maybe it can help. Look at Golden State and Barnes.

Looking at some of the Draft talk, player like Bennett seem to have high Risk, or being a Wizard's version of AB, or the potential to be an All Star/Super Star. Especially if somebody can groom him and develop him, but those are bad words here in Wizard's nation.

But Porter, Len, Noel seem more like safe way to go.Some of them also have high chances to be a all star at some point as well.

Some middle of the road could be Zeller and Oladipo.

Where do you stand?

I wouldn't label Len and Noel as safe picks. In fact, there are very legitimate concerns with both. Noel has a scary injury history, slight frame, and very raw offensive game. Len is further along physically, but he too has a troubling injury and raw overall game. With that said, the tools are there, and if you're going to gamble, you might as well gamble on bigs because the reward is usually greater. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Noel.

Assuming Noel is gone, I'd rather not gamble, and it's not just because we totally blew the 09 and 11 drafts. I really like Porter, and I think people are underrating his upside. He showed tremendous improvement as a sophomore as the #1 option on a very good young team, and he's only 19.

As for the Bennett/Porter debate, I have more faith in Otto's ability to get stronger, keep refining his handle and jumper, and mesh with our other building blocks than I do in Bennett becoming a passable defender. Give me the steady, mature two way player who still has room to grow.

I agree there is risk with Noel and Len. I think the risk is worth it with Noel, but not as much with Len or Bennett. I guess that makes me "middle of the road".

I would take Noel if not him then Porter if he's left.

Let's play. No crazy bets. However, when the table is hot. It's time to get aggressive and throw downs some chips. I like the Place Bet area (numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10) and the back line odds.

What are you suggesting AFM?
