Off the bench he can hit shots.

I think that notion that he's some great leader or mentor is plain nonsense.

You recall a 32/10 playoff series were the Wizards got swept in 4. Good times, eh?

Bad defensive effort unfortunately isn't something that's statistically measured, but there's a good reason why his teams have historically never won anything.

Do as I say not as I do? I understand Bill Laimbeer is teaching sportsmanship to his WNBA teams. :D

Nate Robinson at last years salary was a major steal. Not a great distributor but he can sure fill it up which is exactly what our second team lacks.

On Twitter, Ian Begley of ESPN NY says Wizards are among 6 teams showing interest in Knicks' Chris Copeland.

Man, he'd be a great fit as a backup stretch 4. I just doubt we can afford him and Webster with the MLE.

Apparently the Pelicans are going to offer something around 4/$16 mil. That's too rich for my blood. I think Webster is a goner, if a guy like Copeland is going to get $16 million, I can't imagine what Martell will get.

Actually, we should be able to afford him -- he's 29.

I thought players got paid based on their performance from the previous season.

If Copeland is going to get $16 mil, then Webster may be looking at $20 mil++.

As I've mentioned before, if we draft Porter, Webster coming back is not a lock. In fact if Webster is going to cost that type of coin, were better off going in another direction.

Bu, bu, bu, but Hands said Webster is part of our core and is our #1 priority...we can't go in another direction!!!

A lot of people are going to be butthurt if Webster doesn't come back...all that overhyping of a career bench player just never made sense to me.

Webster is worth what Ariza already makes IMO.

I would keep him and look to trade Ariza midseason.

When the Wizards played like a 50-win team, I thought Martell was their second best offensive player.

What makes him really valuable is his ability to also play SG.

Webster is not worth $7 million a year. Maybe $7 million TOTAL.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... tma02.html

Over his 8 seasons he's made $28.7M, or, on average $3.6M.
His highest salary was $5.2M with a Timberwolves in 2011.
Last season with Washington, Martell made only 600K.

I said he's worth IMO what Ariza made, but that's not what I would offer. Two years, $8M or three years, $10M seem fair.

If Copeland is getting something in the $16 mil range.... Webster is getting more, bet on it.

I dont mind Copeland at all he stepped it up a few game...honestly has potential too.

I rather have webster than Ariza honestly.

Copeland did have a pretty good rookie year - high efficiency and a better PER than Webster's ever had in his career. Considering Webster's poor health history with his back - and considering the back caused him to end last season prematurely, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Copeland gets more than Webster. Neither are ever going to make an all-defensive team - though I'd give Webster the edge there - when he's healthy.

yea but than again copeland also can improve he already has a pretty nice 3 point shot while his inside drive is decent he can progress more as a starter. Id trade for him but idk what the deal would look like. If we get him and possibly another knicks player or pick than we can now focus on Bennet or even think about Noel. Seems to me if we draft Bennet he will play at SF rather than PF.

If NO is targeting copeland, does that mean Ryan Anderson is in play as a trade target?

I was thinking the same thing. If so, then that makes the second guy the acquired last summer that they are willing to move (the other being Gordon, apparently). Not sure what that says.

Maybe they plan to go ultra-big and play Copeland at SF, counting on Davis to provide help when quick forwards get by him defensively?
