Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
Dalembert even on his laziest/worst day has more skill on offense than Joel or anything center not named Bird. Right now this team is in need of size and youth. He fills a void. The player I want the most is Oden this off-season. Sign him for a 2 year deal at minium & bring him along slow. Low risk with high reward. Hopefully we can trade Joel this off-season which should free up the 3million for 2 yrs to Dalebert and Juwan retiring could clear Oden as the project of the future.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
Thought this was interesting from "ASK IRA
Q: In your post "Heat contracts: How the 2013-14 offseason math works" it says that Ray Allen "cannot earn more from Heat even by opting out." I believe this phrase is incorrect. If Allen were to exercise his option, he would earn $3.2 million next season. If he were to opt out, the Heat could utilize its Non-Bird rights to offer him a contract starting at up to 120 percent of his previous salary, or $3.7 million. I am not suggesting that they would, only that they could. -- Albert.
A: You are correct. What I meant is that Ray can only earn negligibly more (of course that's easy to say when it's not my money). But not only are you correct, but under the Non-Bird rules, Ray also not only could sign at a 20-percent bump over his 2012-13 salary, but also for as many as four years, with 4.5-percent annual raises. So that more you look at it, if Ray believes this is his final career stop, it makes sense for him to opt out, if only to stay (yes, this salary-cap stuff can be quite confusing). The more you think about it, the more likely that Ray will opt out by Saturday's deadline, but only as a means of returning. The real question is how many years the Heat would be willing to offer. Ray could potentially join Juwan Howard in the Heat's 40-year-old club.

LeBron on the chance of riding out his career with Dwyane, Chris and Riles: "That's the goal."

I try to avoid taking people at face value, but this is a comment that truly puts a good ole' smile on my face.

sklonick
Interesting that Mike Miller's name didn't come up today, as a possible retention guy. Likely gone one way (trade) or another (amnesty).

I seem to remember watchout being wrong on his last few guarantees. K-Mart being the latest I believe.

Bulls, knicks, thunder or any other contender would probably try and grab miller if we let him go

This was posted at the deadline
I wonder if the Heat will revisit this trade
It was reported that Miami and Minnesota have contacted the Nuggets about you. Did it really happen? Timofey Mozgov: Yes, my agent told me about it. And I would go to Miami or Minneapolis gladly. On one condition only – that they would let me play. That the Heat are the main title contender this season didn’t matter to me at all. I am not going to sit on the bench even for a champion’s ring. To me, playing time is more important right now than any team results. Rush'n Hoops
I wonder if the Heat will revisit this trade

Actually they can, whoever bids the most for his contract would get Miller, if 2 teams bid the same amount, the team with the worst record would get him.
This is different than the normal waiver process.

All of those teams are over the cap, pretty sure they can't bid on him.

It would be like the Billups situation right? A team under the cap will take him before he can walk to a top contender.

Miami Heat F Rashard Lewis will exercise his player option and return for 2013-14 season, his agent Colin Bryant tells @CSNNW.

Nice. Good bench depth, need to give lebron some more rest during the regular season next year. Plus, I think it helps ray make the decision to return.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
Rivals WILL get to Miller if we amnesty him, or even trade him. I wouldn't be surprised if a rival tried to trade FOR him if we trade Miller away. He knows the Heat's defense, and he is still a scoring threat. Reminds me of when Arroyo went to the Celtics, they tried to get info from him and he gave it to them. Didn't work obviously, but still.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
Just curious. If Howard told the lakejob he wasn't going to sign with them and would give them a sign and trade, would anyone actually object to Howard for Wade and a 2nd?
