In addition free agents are only one part of a cap space game.

Unrestricteds include: Lebron, D Wade, Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, Rudy Gay, Spencer Hawes, JRich, Shannon Brown, ZBo, Kobe, Pau, Danny Grainger, Paul Peirce, and Deng.

Restricteds include: Greg Monroe, Lance Stephenson, Paul George, Ed Davis, Larry Sanders, Demarcus Cousins, Derrick Favors, Gordon Haywood, and John Wall.

I really wish you guys would post in green or use a smiley to indicate when your kidding. That free agent class looks fantastic to me.

It's definitely a better class, but which of those guys is going to take less money to go to Charlotte? Plus, players like Z-Bo and Pau will be approaching mid 30's. While players like George, Monroe and Cousins will probably re-sign with their teams.

They really have to be smart about this. I'm not sure that overspending on Al Jefferson or Josh Smith would be a great move. If you spend on someone, he has to be a legitimate all-star.

Andrew Bynum on a one-year deal would be interesting.

Bynum isn't going to take a one year deal, especially not to play in Charlotte

If it's enough money, I'd think he'd consider it. Doesn't seem like any team is going to give him a long-term contract with the injuries he's had over his career and the questions about his character. At most, a two-year deal, with the second year being a team option.

He's 26, so he could sign a one-year deal somewhere, prove that he's healthy and sign for more $$$ the following offseason.

Next years free agent pool is GAWD awful...

Really?

I am saying in terms of us having a chance to sign somebody, because I hardly doubt LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Anthony, Gay, Pierce, Kobe, Deng, Pau, or ZBo are going to be coming into Charlotte. So that leaves Hawes, JRich, Shannon Brown, and Danny Granger as possible targets as unrestricted guys, the Choices!!!!

Then all the guys you listed as Restricted free agents are all guys coming off their rookie contracts, who will resign longterm with the team that drafted them. The only guys who may move are Ed Davis and Lance Stephenson.

I am saying this offseason is full of guys who are coming off their second contracts and entering their prime. Next years are rookie contract guys and older free agents.

This year has guys like Jefferson, Millsap, Josh Smith, Corey Brewer, Reddick, Jennings, Ellis, Mayo, Devin Harris, Manu, Iggy, Jarrett Jack, Landry, West, Howard, CP3, Tyreke, Dunleavy, Reddick, kevin Martin, bynum, Hickson, Splitter, Foye, Mo Williams....

I feel like all these guys have the chance to change teams...

The Charlotte Bobcats can be a player in the 2013 free agent market, however president of basketball operations Rod Higgins may hold off on using it until next year.

“We can always maintain that flexibility for another year,” Higgins tells The Charlotte Observer. “Maybe in 2014, there would be some names that would attract you more.”

The Bobcats can have about $12 million available to spend in July if they renounce all their free agents and the salary cap room could increase by $8.69 million if they waive Tyrus Thomas via the amnesty provision.

The Bobcats biggest needs are low-post scoring and perimeter shooting. They will first try to address one of those areas in the draft on Thursday with the No. 4 pick.

“Because of the cap flexibility, we plan to be ultra-aggressive in trying to get a free agent that we deem as a good piece,” Higgins said. “What we don’t want to do is go and pay a marginal talent $40 million, (to a) player who might not be a difference-maker.”

Seems like we are willing to spend some money on a free agent this offseason if the right player is available.

I wonder who that would be. I would prefer to get a young guy to grow with the core we have but those guys are always RFA. I was watching NBATV last night and they were saying it would make more sense to flip the order and do FA then the draft. I would like that idea that way you are less likely to draft for need and just take BPA. Fill your needs in FA then if it is close between two prospects you can pick the one who best completes your squad.

Crazy. He's 34. He was last in the NBA in 2006. Amazingly he has played professionally all the while since then, just elsewhere, Puerto Rico, Israel, Spain, Taiwan and last season in Argentina. If you look him up the pictures that come up alongside him are Stromile Swift, Chris Mihm & DeMarr Johnson!

Sanity check - where do we as a board currently stand on going after Bynum? Yes? No? Yes, with caveats?

Yes, on a 1-year deal max deal, but I seriously doubt that he'd be interested in such a offer from "the lowly Bobcats"

I agree. I might go two year deal but no further and only after a very thorough physical.

What in the world would be the point of that? Either he returns to form and pushes us out of top 3 contention, or he slams and we wasted the max on him. Let some other team make the mistake of taking that ****. I want no part of him.

**** Bynum. I'd rather pay a 7-foot tree $10M to play center for us than let that piece of **** be the centerpiece of our franchise.

The tree would be less injury prone as well.

Doubt we'll do much. I think we're looking forward to the 2014 draft

I'd rather pay Will Bynum $10 mil to play centre for us then pay that butt plug Andrew Bynum $10 mil to do anything associated wit our team at all.

Ok now that we fortified the front court, do we look for back court scoring in free agency?

Does O.J. Mayo interest anybody here?

NO

We need to tank, not try to be the 9th seed.

We are going to need to be BAD, though. Boston's tanking, Philly's tanking, and Milwaukee seems to be tanking as well. There's three more teams that are likely to be pretty bad.
