Anthony Bennett

Latest espn mock draft has him falling to us at 8. Of the top players he seems the most likely to fall. What are your thoughts on this guy? I don't know much about him other than some highlight videos. He seems like a boom or bust leaning more towards bust

Gained 18lbs in 2 months after an injury. Bad lateral quickness. Undersized for the 4. Slow for the 3. I don't want him. The LJ comparisons are ridiculous because he can't pass.

Sheridan Hoops is reporting that Washington is definitely taking Bennett at #3, as a result, Charlotte is shopping MKG to clear room for Otto Porter.

It's a rumor. But, basically, Bennett isn't likely going to happen.

I like the kid. He is long with a 7'1 wingspan, powerful, and an explosive finisher. Offensively he can score both inside and out with three point ability and can attack the basket with both hands. Very good offensive rebounder and has the potential to be just as good as any talent in the draft.

With that said, he needs to improve on the defensive end and can he play the 3 in the NBA? I would like to think he could play the three and then move over to the 4 spot when Monroe or Drummond are out of games. Could be a better fit at PF next to Drummond than Monroe.

From what i've seen i'm a little skeptical about Bennett.
He's obviously talented offensively, but he lacks the quickness to cover SFs and he doesn't have the height to defend PF's. Also his weight issues are a little troubling.
I'm definitely worried about picking him.

The correct answer is MCW or KCP - depending on how the Pistons see Knight.

....and you thought 2012/13 had a lot of turnovers! Wait until we introduce MCW to the turnoverific duo of Knight and Monroe!

I won't even buy tickets again until joe is fired. If he drafts mcw then I am 100% joes has seriously lost his touch. Mcw is the worst pick to compliment Drummond and Monroe. They need Burke!!

They don't need Burke so much as they need to not waste a pick on MCW. We'd never score more than 80 points a game.

At that point it's either KCP, Shamu or Zeller, depending on how everyone feels about them. I'm a fan of KCP myself, but Shamu or Zeller would work too. Maybe even Schroder? Everyone seems to have forgotten about him.

MCW isn't as bad as some believe. His shot selection/mechanics need work, and obviously his turnovers.

After that, there is a lot of like about him. His height, his length, and tested really well athletically. 6'5 PG with a 40 inch vert is going to make point guards struggle to get good looks. He also plays the passing lanes well for steal.

You can make a case for or against every player Detroit is allegedly looking into. I don't view MCW as significantly better or worse than anyone else in consideration there.

Burke isn't the answer either. He's too small and lacks quickness as well as mediocre athleticism. I would love to be proven wrong if he has a solid season if he gets drafted somewhere, but NOT us. For the love of God, no to Burke.

I'm down with CJ, Shamu, KCP, and McLemore if he falls. Nothing more or less.

His length is great and his test results are eye opening. Problem is... He doesn't play to his ability. All of that is going to have to be coached. And I don't think you can coach a player to use your 40 in vertical "at this moment" , you know what I mean? I don't think he can play. He's got the goods but... That's about it.

He needs to sit on the bench when he enters the league and once again pistons will rush another point guard out there. For this guy to succeed, I feel like, it would depend on the situation. Rondo is the best example I can think of. A lot of rondos succes attributes to his "situation he was placed in", you know, having big 3 to coach him up and what not. There isn't anything like that here. Mcw isn't ready to start immediately IMO.

Burke plays within himself. He plays low to the ground and protects the ball really well. He has the strength to dribble the ball into your body and initiate contact. I think he's athletic enough. Burkes ability to play with strong dribbling will enable him to get anywhere on the floor and feed Drummond pick n rolls all day. It'll literally be unfair.

I would ascertain that the transition to being a starting caliber point guard would be made much easier for anyone if he was doing so with three hall of fame players next to him.

Your red flags with MCW are valid concerns. I just can't definitively state any other players that don't also have red flags as well.

I'm basically preparing myself for whatever the hell Dumars does on Thursday. I'm not going to run anyone into the ground, because next week I'll probably be trying to talk myself into believing they won't be terrible.
