Umm, not sure if this is just a crazy coincidence or not, but here's the latest big time rumor involving the Wizards...

@probballdraft: The Charlotte Bobcats have been shopping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Potential that he is moved on draft night. #NBADraft

:-o

My jaw dropped when I first read that, and it hasn't returned back to a normal position since. I am shocked. I don't know what to believe anymore.

MKG is more of a sure thing in my opinion you know what he's going to bring day in and day out.

Forgot to link to the part of the article that actually matters.

http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2013/06/25 ... to-porter/

"The Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist around the league, confident they will be able to replace him with Otto Porter of Georgetown with the No. 4 pick in Thursday’s draft.

The reason the Bobcats braintrust of Rich Cho and owner Michael Jordan believe Porter will be available is because, SheridanHoops has learned from league sources, the Washington Wizards are determined to draft Andrew Bennett of UNLV with the No. 3 pick."

If Porter and Noel are gone, I think I'd rather have MKG then D. Williams+9. I still think MKG can be the 2nd best SF in the east. CHA would be dumb as **** to dump him so early though.

You didn't read the entire article. The Bobcats are only considering trading MKG because they are convinced that we're taking Bennett and therefore, Porter will fall to them. It follows logically that they value Porter more than MKG. If that's all true, it's not a good sign.

So would every NBA team that includes zone as part of the defensive package.

Ummm. How attractive would this be?

Jan - 3.3M
Ariza - 7.7
Singleton - 1.6 (or Booker - 2.3M)
2014 1st Unprotected

for

MKG - 4.8
TT - 8.6

They save about 1M this year, another 9.3M (15M if they decline Jan and Singleton) next year. Get an unprotected 1st in the best draft of the decade. We also have a high 2nd and could make an exchange to get Haywood off their books too if they like.

Zards:
Wall
Beal/Webster
MKG/Webster/Bennett
Nene/Bennett
Okafor/Seraphin

Cats:
Walker/Sessions
Henderson/ Gordon/Taylor
Porter/Ariza/Taylor
Booker/Jan
Mullens/Bismack

What about this deal:

Wiz trade Ves+Singleton+3 for Marcus Thornton+7?

Sac takes Porter at 3 (fills a huge hole at SF) while the Wiz grab Zeller at 7? Thorton fills a HUGE hole as a combo guard and instant scorer off the bench.

Nah, not interested in taking on Thornton's contract AND moving down. Especially since he'd be a reserve.

I'm not surprised, Cho's trying to trade MKG before the shine fades too much more. Wing players who aren't high quality shooters or elite at getting to the rim just don't move the needle for teams in the NBA.

So CHarlotte, notoriously tight-lipped and close-to-vest -- the same team who okey-doked everyone last year with the MKG pick when the entire world thought they were either (a) taking Robinson or (b) swinging a deal with Cleveland so they could get in front of us for Beal...

And now 48 hours before the draft we are supposed to believe that they are hell bent on trading the guy they took a year ago, the guy that it came out was their guy all along?

Come on, man.

What's more ridiculous is this article claims that the Bobcats are trying to trade MKG for Harrison Barnes... another SF. So illogical. I feel dumb for falling for this rumor as bad as I did earlier this afternoon. The draft needs to hurry up and get here. And that "journalist" needs to lose his job. Making up sources isn't cool.

I think CHA fans have already dismissed the rumor as erroneous.

If we don't get a stretch 4 in the draft whats left that we could go after....Patrick Patterson? I wonder if SAC actually wants to keep him around. Earl Clark is a FA and I imagine LAL will attempt to keep him unless we could entertain a S&T.

if we get Porter...maybe an Ariza+38 for Clark swap. Or can the Lakers not do S&Ts?

Source: Bobcats aren’t looking to trade Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

By Rick Bonnell
rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com
Posted: Tuesday, Jun. 25, 2013

An NBA source with knowledge of the situation adamantly denied Tuesday that the Charlotte Bobcats are shopping small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist as a trade commodity.

Rumors spread quickly Tuesday afternoon, after the website sheridanhoops.com posted a story saying the Bobcats were looking to move Kidd-Gilchrist, on the assumption Georgetown small forward Otto Porter Jr. might be available when they pick fourth Thursday.

Porter and Kidd-Gilchrist would create a redundancy on a Charlotte roster with many other needs. Hence the assumption the Bobcats would move Kidd-Gilchrist, the No. 2 overall pick a year ago, to make room for Porter.

The league source said not only that Kidd-Gilchrist isn’t on the trading block, but that the chances of Porter making it past the top three picks are slim. Another league source strongly doubted any chance of Porter getting past the Wizards at No. 3.

Porter’s agent, David Falk – who represented Bobcats owner Michael Jordan as a player – chose not to send Porter to a workout in Charlotte, apparently out of confidence he wouldn’t get to No. 4.

The Wizards’ most apparent need is at small forward. Porter, 6-8, has obvious ties to Washington from his time with the Hoyas. Also, as one draft source noted, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis is a Georgetown graduate and a big fan of Porter’s.

According to the sheridanhoops.com story, the Wizards would choose Nevada-Las Vegas forward Anthony Bennett. He primarily is projected as a power forward, but Bennett said during a visit to Charlotte that he could play some small forward at the NBA level.

It’s not uncommon during the days leading to a draft for misinformation to be spread, particularly in a draft such as this with no clear-cut top pick or an obvious order of the top six selections. It’s a mystery what the Cleveland Cavaliers will do with the top pick Thursday night, in part because the Cavs acknowledging their intentions could only hurt the trade value of the No. 1 pick.

Porter, who averaged 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds last season as a sophomore, generally is considered the most ready-to-play prospect in the 2013 draft.

Kidd-Gilchrist, who left Kentucky after his freshman season, had an uneven rookie season with Charlotte. He averaged 9.0 points and 5.8 rebounds, while starting 77 of the team’s 82 games. He was a strong defender and rebounder for his position, but he has an undependable jump shot.

I would not take MKG at this point over Porter Len or Oladipo. I would just keep the pick before i traded for MKG. Porter looks to be better than MKG in shooting and defense. Plus, the at's should just keep him and hope for the best, glad it is false.

Any more news on a Vesely trade? Seeing his name out there as trade bait got me excited!

I'm warming a bit to the Ersan trade Idea (Ves+Singleton+3 for Ersan+15) IF Shabaaz is there at 15.
