According to Mike McGraw, Aldridge wants the Bulls

Post#1 » by ryannik09 » Wed Jun 26, 2013 5:35 pm

Word is, Aldridge wants to escape from Portland's rebuilding project and has made it known that he'd like to land in Chicago.

Deng and 20 for Aldridge is a good trade from a talent perspective but we would desperately be lacking wing players and would have too much upfront between Boozer/LaMarcus/Taj/Noah - there would need to be another trade or move

Gotta get a third team involved. We don't have anything other than Noah that they want.

Well, not the biggest fan, but this is essentially what the Bulls need, the good player(s) need to want to come to the Bulls. *

* Disclaimer: Nobody wants to come to Chicago.

C&Ped from the other thread:

A good player actually wants to be traded here? Pinch me.

For at least a month now I've been a fan of the idea of using Deng(and other assets if necessary) to acquire a superior big to Boozer, amnestying Boozer, and then using the freed-up full MLE to sign another wing, Pierce if Boston buys him out, or K-Mart, or someone like that. I had usually had Gasol in mind as the superior big, but Aldridge would be great too.

I'd do Deng+Charlotte pick+Teague for Aldridge. Might consider including Taj as well. If they insist on Jo, no deal.

Full excerpt from the article:

Word is, Aldridge wants to escape from Portland's rebuilding project and has made it known that he'd like to land in Chicago.

Deng for Aldridge won't get it done. The Blazers want Joakim Noah in return and the Bulls don't want to give up the superior defensive big man.

Here's one way to get Portland's attention: Offer Deng and Charlotte's future No. 1 pick. The Bulls are counting on that Bobcats' pick (acquired for Thomas, ironically), to pay off big, because it's unprotected in 2016.

I don't see it with Deng involved. They have Batum for 3 more years on a huge contract. Noah I could see Portland wanting. But do you do that if you're the Bulls?

At first glance, that's a tough call. I'd need to give it some more thought before weighing in.

Problem is that Portland just turned down 1 and 19 for him.

I think Chicago has a shot at getting him, but not until summer 2014. Aldridge will only have one year left on his deal and will have leverage. Even then I'm not sure what Chicago could offer Portland that would entice them.

I wanted Love, but if Aldridge wants to come here then that's alright with me and it'll win us a championship.

I just can't see Portland acquiring Deng after their huge extension to Batum. Obviously the Charlotte pick has value, but it's a strange fit. You almost wonder if they would prefer Taj or Boozer over Deng as the big salary that matches Aldridge.

Yet again, I'm not sure we have the right pieces.

LMA gonna force his ways to chicago. And block any extensions elsewhere just like all these other superstars in the nba. Sounds NICE!!

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

The plan is probably to get as many assets for Deng (lets say the #8 pick in the draft), couple that with the Bobcat's pick and Mirotic.

I don't think its that cut and dry. But then again what about Mirotic?

Bulls draft Dieng and then have a big man rotation of:

Aldridge
Gibson
Mirotic
Dieng

I don't know. If Mirotic is a legit offensive threat, like he appears to be, that balance looks a lot better with Noah rather than Aldridge.

Some info on Aldridge:

Very healthy, misses very few games. Played 36 mpg for his career, very good for a big.

Career 8 rebounds per 36. That is...not good. Last year at 8.6 (also bad) was his BEST.

TS, last year 53% (below average), career 53.7% (also below average), career high 56% in strike shortened season

PER: last year 20.4 (good), career 19.7 (good), career high 22.7 in strike shortened season)

So, we want a high priced volume mostly jump shooting inefficient big man, who is not a good defender and not a good rebounder. He will be loved. Or not.
