This can easily be fixed.

Just switch Taj in for Deng and make it happen.

Taj + Charlotte Pick for Aldridge. Throw in next years second rounder too.

Get it done GarPax.
In Rose’s basketball mind, like most of ours, LeBron may be the sun, and in that the world and all other planets (players) revolve around all things LeBron, but to Derrick, Derrick is the universe. Greater than.

No to Smith.

But we'll have an offensive threat in Mirotic coming off the bench for Aldridge. :D '

I don't see a way of getting him. But man that would be awesome. He fits really well with Rose and Noah.

I encourage you to float that trade on the Blazers board. I think the second rounder should tip the scales.

Career 8 rebounds per 36. That is...not good. Last year at 8.6 (also bad) was his BEST.

TS, last year 53% (below average), career 53.7% (also below average), career high 56% in strike shortened season

PER: last year 20.4 (good), career 19.7 (good), career high 22.7 in strike shortened season)

So, we want a high priced volume mostly jump shooting inefficient big man, who is not a good defender and not a good rebounder. He will be loved. Or not.

Not happening

Comment From Guest:
So nothing we (Cavs) have can tempt Portland to give up A(ldridge)

Sam Amico:
I asked a Portland official. His response: "The Cavs have a better chance of trading Kyrie than we do of Aldridge. So please, stop." And there you have it.

Aldridge may want out but has no leverage.

Also, I would trade Noah for Aldridge if we got an unprotected first rounder for next year from the Blazers. That may be worth is.

He used to post up a lot more. Stotts made him much more of a jump shooting big. I'm pretty sure Thibs would use him the right way.

no?

I posted this in the other thread. IMO, this is one of the reasons the Bulls should have held on to Asik. And, Portland likes Asik. Asik+Taj+Charlotte pick for for LMA would have been a good try for the Bulls.

I think Portland would value a player like Asik more than Tristan Thompson type because Asik is obviously bigger and proven in the playoffs plus the development of his game has been partially done by somebody else. Or, worst case they could have gone the Noah route by keeping Asik.

John Hollinger disagrees

Analysis
Aldridge has achieved full-fledged stardom as something of a poor man's Dirk Nowitzki, a jump-shooting big man who can generate lots of high-percentage shots with few turnovers. He doesn't do it as well as Nowitzki, obviously, which is why Aldridge doesn't have an MVP or a championship ring, but he is darned effective. Aldridge averaged 23.9 points per 40 minutes last season, third best among power forwards, while ranking in the top 15 at his position in true shooting percentage and turnover ratio. That's some serious efficiency.

Aldridge shot 42.2 percent on jumpers outside 10 feet and went to that weapon a lot, taking nearly 10 a game; only three players, including Nowitzki, attempted more on the season. In addition, Aldridge shot a sizzling 52.1 percent from 3 to 9 feet, the second-best mark in the league -- an area where the league average is just 37.5 percent -- and made 68.4 percent in the basket area.

Meanwhile, Aldridge is a vastly underrated defensive player. He doesn't put up huge block or steal totals, but his length and mobility make him a good pick-and-roll and low-post defender. He has also developed a very good strip move against opposing post players. Synergy rated him among the league's top power forwards last season, and the Blazers gave up 7.8 fewer points per 100 possessions with him on the court. The only quibble is that he could be a more effective defensive rebounder given his size. He is only average for a power forward and well below average for a center.

How are we even supposed to get Aldridge when he's not even UFA? Seems like a pipe-dream and feel like Aldridge is lamenting his situation in Portland.

I don't see what the Bulls would be willing to give up for LA. But seeing how New Orleans is looking to move Gordan maybe Portland would be interesting in Gordan and a three-way-deal can get worked out?

Chi In: Aldridge
Chi Out: Deng and Gidson

Portland In: Gordan, Gibson and Jason Smith
Portland out: Aldridge and Myers Leonard

New Orleans In: Deng, Leonard
New Orleans out: Eric Gordan and Jason Smith.

How credible is McGraw? I honestly don't know but I'd rather hear this out of a non-Chicago source.

As of right now, the only guy rumored to be catching Portland's attention is Noah. So, the question is - do you trade Noah for Aldridge? Because otherwise we don't seem to have enough trade pieces to land him, unless they have a stiffy for Deng.

We know that Brooklyn would take Boozer for Humphries and Brooks. So maybe we can use those two pieces to acquire an asset that Portland would want. Then send them the Bobcats pick, maybe Thomas Robinson if the Bulls trade the 20th pick for him. I think the Bulls can put together a interesting package if this is where LMA wants to be.

If brooklyn or toronto still want boozer i flip boozer with our assets plus they assets to put together a major package for aldridge

Brooklyn might not be so quick to help us but maybe toronto will

I do think we can accumulate enough assets using deng and taj to get the pieces to get aldridge

I think this is a case of overvaluing Noah and undervaluing Aldridge, I love Jo but defensive big men are easier to find than guys like Aldridge. Every time the Bulls play Portland he absolutely kills us. If this deal were truly on the table we would be fools not to take it, especially given Noahs injury issues with his feet.

Thought I saw somewhere that The Cavs wanted Deng...
Now i'm reading that Portland wants Noah for Aldridge?

-Cavs get Deng
-Blazers get Varejao
-Bulls get Aldridge

Throw in some fillers and draft picks to make it all even in terms of salary and talent... That's the trade scenario I would be trying to build on.

That was my thinking. Turn the #20 into T Rob, send him and one of our own assets along with Deng and the CHA pick.
