ST: BlueJays @ RedSox June 27th-30th

Post#1 » by JoeyBats » Wed Jun 26, 2013 6:38 pm

Game 1: June 27th; Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (1-0, 2.18 ERA) vs Jon Lester, LHP (7-4, 4.57 ERA)
Wang hasn't allowed an earned run in 16 2/3 innings, which is the longest streak by a Blue Jays starter this season. He now has two quality starts in three outings since joining Toronto's rotation following a prolonged stint in the Minor Leagues.

Game 2: June 28th; Josh Johnson, RHP (1-2, 4.60 ERA) vs Felix Doubront, LHP (4-3, 4.33 ERA)
Johnson picked up his first win as a Blue Jay in his last outing vs. the Orioles. Johnson avoided trouble in the first, and then was nearly unhittable until surrendering four late runs after the game was all but decided.

Game 3: June 29th; Esmil Rogers, RHP (3-3, 3.46 ERA) vs Allen Webster, RHP (0-2, 11.25 ERA)
Rogers allowed four runs on seven hits during six innings during his last start against the Rays. Almost all of the damage came in the second inning, when he surrendered three consecutive homers to James Loney, Wil Myers and Sam Fuld.

Game 4: June 30th; Mark Buehrle, LHP (4-5, 4.73 ERA) vs Ryan Dempster, RHP (5-8, 4.15 ERA)
Buehrle surrendered four runs on eight hits over five innings during his last start against the Rays. It marked just the third time in his past nine outings that he didn't record a quality start and the second straight game he pitched five innings.

I'd be happy with a split.

Realistically I'm expecting 2-2, but 3-1 would put us at 4-3 for the road trip which would be nice.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Well, if the Jays want to do the impossible, this is the time to do it. Worst case heading into tomorrow's game is 5 games out in the loss column (4 if the Rockies can beat the Red Sox tonight). A sweep, or 3/4, puts the team right back into the discussion as far as winning the division. The pitching match-ups are hit or miss, but these are the series' the Jays have to win due to the hole they dug themselves into early in the year.

I'd be willing to accept 3-1. 4-0 is decent.

Wow those numbers are pretty bad for Boston. Crazy they are doing so well.

We're missing Buchholz due to injury and Lackey, who is pitching tonight. They've been their best two starters...we're getting the the best possible matchups here. Gotta make good the opportunity, though.

I'd be happy with 3-1 but 4-0 would make this run even more legit.

Exactly! We should be able to take 3 out of 4 here. I'll be content with a split as well. :)

A split on the road facing against the best offence in Baseball and while facing two decent lefties would be amazing, people are going crazy with their expectations.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
