the only two advantages that leonard has right now over MKG
1) a respectable 3pt shot
2) the ability to defend w/out being called for a foul

#2 is a combination of experience and reputation. MKG should be much improved next year in this area.

MKG is every bit as good of a rebounder, perhaps better. he has all the tools to be as good of a defender. he is probably better in the open floor and in the paint. and probably a little better passer.

Don't forget that Leonard was considered a crap arse shooting heading into his draft night as well.

Leonards shot was doubted but at no point has it been as broken as MKG's, he's got a lot of ground to make up.

I agree. It will be at least 2-3 seasons before MKG can shoot 37% from 3 like Leonard did this past season, if ever. But as far as the other attributes such as driving to the basket, defense, passing, etc.. MKG will be just as good as if not better than Leonard in all those areas like mentioned above.

I wonder what dudes think when I drop 30-40 points with MKG on them in 2k online. Funny thing is I have been winning like crazy with the Cats. Most underrated player on the team in Jeff Adrien dude can ball in that game.

Hopefully he is getting up shots working on that jumper.

@rick_bonnell: It sounds like USA Basketball reached out to MKG through his agent, Leon Rose. This would be for the mini-camp in July Kemba will attend.

Nice to hear.

Yeah hear Rich Cho said this in his interview this morning, but I thought he was mistaking MKG with Kemba's invitation.

Hope he can learn from the experience.

MKG deserves to be on that Team USA mini-camp. He's better than a couple of names that I've seen slotted in already, and it would be a huge boost to his confidence, which is much needed

Since our beat writer is high all the time can anyone confirm or deny that MKG will now apart if team USA mini camp? I think it'd be huge for him.

All I can find from Bonnell himself

2 weeks old but if they reached out to him then it seems very promising,

@rick_bonnell: MKG excited Clifford wants to get him more drives and post-ups: "I love contact."

I imagine MKG is going to have a bit more freedom from the refs this season both offensively and defensively.

I do believe that his foul troubles were overblown but obviously at times hindered his ability to stay on the court.

Gasp dare I say it, should MKG never develop a reliable jumper he could still score mid teens in points by his ability to attack the rim and finish, his FT percent is exceptionally solid for a young player and will surely improve.

He needs to learn to go baseline though.
