How do you go from, 'he is saying negative things about Portland to bring his trade value down' to 'yep, he really wants to be a Bull'?

He may, but i can't make that conclusion based on his negative comments of Portland.

also, none of those comments from aldridge about disliking portland are on the record except for one quote after he'd been pestered by a reporter for a while before and then after the game in a situation in which i'm sure the natural reaction is to be annoyed. quick heard from a third party that aldridge was unhappy in portland, and aldridge gave the pr answers:

“How do you feel about the city, the team?’’

“I’m fine,’’ he said shortly.

I told him he didn’t sound very convincing.

“I’m fine,’’ he repeated. “I had one season that was tough, it’s a building year and right now, I’m not going to get into it. This season was better than we thought it would be, it ended rough, but I haven’t gotten into that mindset of evaluating things.’’

quick keeps up that line of questioning and asks aldridge if he wants out, to which aldridge says "I’m not trying to jump ship." quick brings up the endorsements not being renewed, and aldridge says he just wants to take it easy. quick brings up the condo he cancelled, and aldridge says he just didn't need it over the summer.

it's only after the game, when quick returns to the same line of questioning again, asks him about the endorsements again and then and asks him about trying to add a clause to his lease regarding getting traded. that's when he says

“This is why I hate being in Portland,’’ he told me. “You can’t do anything.’’

Complain? No.

Make a comment on it not being a great look? Yes, i will.

It doesn't bother me to the point where i don't want him if he forces his way out, but if it could be done amicably, i'd prefer that for LaMarcus.

You could interpret someone commenting on it as complaining, but you would be wrong.

All the rumors are pointing to him requesting Chicago. He's trying to hold some leverage here, which he has none at the moment, but by saying he want's out, he's bringing his trade value down, which, is good for Bulls Fans.

well not complain, but you can still call him out for being unprofessional. But who knows, maybe there is more to the story and Portland is part to blame.

I'll agree that those comments don't make him look good, but as long as he doesn't go the T-Mac/Vince Carter/LeBron route, i.e. outright dogging games or leading your current team on just to dump them on national television, I don't think it's a big issue, whether he get traded to Chicago or another contender. If he complains publicly but puts forth the effort on the court, tough luck for the Blazers, they had plenty of chances to build a team with him.

If he kicks and screams, it increases his leverage, but what i don't get is how you can draw that conclusion that he wants Chicago because he wants out.

He may want the Bulls, there may be reports coming that he does want the Bulls, but i don't see it from those quotes to draw that conclusion from there.

Of course he's not going to say it in that report, but earlier reports have him wanting Chicago! I'm sure his agent, thru back channels is also working on ways to get him out and into a big market like Chicago. The other big market that may want him is Brooklyn.

I don't like his comment about Portland since it about how boring and small the city is instead direction of team or he doesn't want to rebuild.

I also think Aldridge will not want the trade happen if he is exchanged for Noah. I think Aldridge doesn't want to play Center.

If he really want to come to Chicago to win, he can always sign with Chicago as free agent since he only has 2 years left.

i think Portland's an awesome city, so I can't go with you there LMA.

This is not the first time we hear LMA coming up a little short on the mental department. Remember the dinner with Scott Skiles before 2006 draft when LMA felt intimidated. That statement about Portland sort of backs up my worry that he might be Chris Bosh 2.0, a little weak minded, probably struggle to step up when called upon in big games. And that's why Noah should not be traded for LMA. I think Noah impact is underrated. But I would welcome LMA to be paired with Noah regardless of his personality because he offers something we don't have and the potential of him pairing up with Noah is very intriguing.

Noah isn't a top-3 scoring option on a championship team. He is a starter and a valuable piece. He's a super role player and a damn good one at that. Aldridge at his best could be the Robin to someone's Batman. That's more valuable.

Wow. You just called Noah a role player, I don't even know how to respond to that.

Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, Chris Bosh are role players. Noah is a role player. So what?

again, i cannot implore people to read the actual oregonian article enough. here's a link.

http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index ... out_sports

quick characterizes aldridge's disinterest as being primarily with the city high in the article, but that seems...unfair at best. quotes from aldridge are all colored by his concern with the team's direction:

"I had one season that was tough, it’s a building year and right now, I’m not going to get into it. This season was better than we thought it would be, it ended rough..."
"We had a tough season and now we just have to wait until the summertime and see what the next step is."
"Like I said, it was a tough season, but I’m not trying to jump ship. We will sit down and we will talk about who we are going to bring in, and what things will happen and we will go from there."
"Right now, [Olshey] is telling me he is going to bring guys in over the summer, so we will talk about it and go from there. If we are not on the same page, we will figure it out"

and, again, even the team's GM says that's where any frustration stems from:

"This is the fourth genesis that he has lived through: From the Jail Blazers, to a youth movement, to a bunch of aging veterans, to this. It’s not easy for him."

I've been a LMA guy since the day he came into the league. He works on the block, has an unguardable turn-around jumper and is underrated as a defender. His rebounding is certainly a sore spot and I get that. But I truly believe a healthy Rose and Aldridge with a defensive minded center and capable shooters can beat anyone on a bad day.

As for what it would take, I'm not completely opposed to trading Noah for Aldridge. We would be able to limit the package to Noah and a future pick, ammnesty Boozer and use that salary to round out the roster and keep Deng.

But if we can get him without trading Noah that would obviously be the ideal scenario but I'm not sure if we have the pieces to make that happen.

basically, i wouldn't be surprised if aldridge hates portland as a city, but i think there's clearly a reason no noise has been made about this until the team started to rebuild

I wonder if there's a way to organize a trade that gets the Clippers Luol Deng, gets the Bulls LaMarcus, and gets Blazers DeAndre Jordan plus the Charlotte pick and maybe the rights to Mirotic (too much?).

Three way between Bulls, Cavs & Blazers?

Something centered around Aldridge, Deng and the 1st overall pick.
