Love is great, but he has no go-to move. If you need Love to get you a bucket, how does he do it?

He's not good in the post, he's not good from midrange, and he's not good off the bounce.

He's a very good three-point shooter and foul-drawer (partly due to his prowess on the offensive boards).

Again, Love is a great player. I just think Aldridge is a better fit.

What player are we waiting for short of LeBron James or Kevin Durant? Each player will have his flaws, it just matters on how you balance those flaws with other personel.

They are waiting for Luol Deng to magically turn into a hall of fame player when it matters most. Waiting to finally be healthy when it matters most. Waiting for Mirotic. Waiting for Miami to get old. They are waiting for things to come to them. They don't want to create their own luck. They want a championship to be handed to them for free. They have all the time in the world. Unfortunately, Rose doesn't.

Blazers... They want at least 2 first round picks, and a few players... and not scrubs.

In reality Deng and #20 should be enough. Only reason, IMO, we'd have to give more than Deng is because LMA is a true second option and because he is almost 7 feet.

No it's because they have Nic Batum @ SF whom they just signed to an extention.

We also have to give up more because he's a 20-10 bigman & he's only 26.

He'll be 28 in less than a month.

Durant is younger than Rose...

Durant's younger, but they're both the same age...

Right. So age shouldn't be used as an argument in favor of either.

LMA is cheaper than Boozer too.
So that's extra money we could use to line Reinsdorf's pockets.

LMA turns 28 in less than a month. Deng turned 28 in April. There is no age difference.

The fact they have Batum should have little bearing on Deng's trade value around the league.

It is a factor in trading him to Portland. Having Deng and Batum mitigates the value of both players.

Haha... I didn't mean to direct that at Noah. I don't think he's a scrub at all. I mean, bench players in general... like something centered around Taj (and Taj is not a scrub either... such a bad choice of words.) However, Taj is not all-star caliber (even though he's a practice dummy for the USA team).

I agree, Red. If we wait until the end of time to get a Lebron or KD, we'll ultimately waste our window. I'd like to see us take a stab at one of those guys (Love, Aldridge, etc) and see what happens. To be great, we need to take a risk. Miami took one when they gutted their roster to free up enough space to bring in all three.

I'd like to see us take a chance and go for the crown. Would Deng, Mirotic, the Charlotte pick be enough to bring in a big time guy?

There are time divisions other than years.

But the posters point implied that Rose has more room to improve because he's 24. Which isn't the case.

Hypothetically... say Gar/Pax pull off what seems grim right now and pull in Aldridge. Say we lose Luol in the trade and end up cutting Boozer, this year or next, we end up with Rose / Noah / LMA as our "big 3", but still have money for 2014 free agency.

We pick up LeBron and have Rose / LeBron / LMA / Noah / Butler... How many championships do we win? :-)

Well that trade had Aldridge for Noah. And other speculative trades are centered around Deng and picks.

singal3 wrote:Deng, Gibson and the Charlotte pick is a fair deal.

OKC received Kevin Martin (expiring like Deng, lesser player), Jeremy Lamb and the 12th pick in a weak draft.

I agree that Deng doesn't fit with portland, but he can be flipped for a top 10 pick this year.

They can have our own original 2015 draft pick (unprotected) instead of the Charlotte pick and it's a deal.

D-Rose has NEVER played with a star in the NBA

... so ugh yeah..he actually has plenty of room to improve his game and become more efficient.

Why not cut out Brooklyn then and do Noah for Aldridge straight up?

the difference is that miami was going after a legit haul. LMA is decidedly NOT that

i've said it before and i'll say it again: building a poor man's heat team with lesser "stars" only locks us into second tier status. just like the knicks did. the only chance we have to beat the heat is to pound them inside and get great point guard play. ideally you get some three point shooting to play off derrick (martell webster would be a nice addition)

trading away our advantages to get a so-called "star" in LMA does not solve anything. given what would be required to obtain him, it would make the chicago bulls worse. it would reduce our chance of upsetting miami. i'm all for making good trades. this would not be one of them. now if kevin love becomes available? much more interesting situation

Personally, I would not do that. But it is a reasonable trade on both sides.

Return to Chicago Bulls
